So do they plan on doing 24/7 every year? I don't want to get my hopes up, the show was great. Seeing the Rangers behind the scenes would be awesome.

EDIT: I guess I should say I don't want to get my hopes up about the whole WC thing either, as it's just a rumor.

I don't care where they play I really enjoyed the HBO show this year and how in depth and exclusive it was. The Rangers could play this game in Mystery, Alaska as long as HBO followed them.

If we had a 24/7 I guarantee Dubinsky would steal the show.

In Philly, why?

Giants Stadium, Yankee Stadium...largest market in the country.

I swear sometimes the marketing decisions the NHL makes is backwards.

Interesting.

Amazing how these corporate suites can't make logical decisions.

It's simple, have a cash cow event at your stadium. Make lots of money. Get lots of media attention.

All while you building's main attraction (the Yankees) are in their off season.

Done deal.

Is it THAT hard?

It is when they have the Pinstripe bowl at Yankee stadium in late December and it takes a couple of weeks to construct the ice surface/rink.

I think the past DECADE has shown that all empty suits everywhere are incompetent...and out of touch with reality...

Thanks.

I'm guessing it's a college football event?

I know absolutely nothing about college football. lol.

That's a bummer. It would be amazing to have this event here at Yankee Stadium.

So who else is going to try to get tickets and look forward to being stuck in traffic for a few hours?

We are going to clog the highways up going to Philly.

Me either. Major lack of interest. Just don't enjoy watching amateurs play grabass for hours on end and quarterbacks dropping back 7 steps never getting sacked...football is a good game but let's just say I think that too many in this country turn football of any kind (see Arena Football League) into an onanistic activity...(dictionary.com).

Disappointed that's going to be the reason they can't do this at Yankee Stadium. Somebody got their priorities screwed up. Great chance to promote hockey in NYC, especially if the NFL season gets cancelled as I hope.

I won't be making the trip because I don't feel like freezing my ass off in a crowd full of obnoxious Philly fans.

Rangers aren't home because of the college bowl games contract.

No Citi Field or Meadowlands stadium because Bettman likely thinks they're second bananas.
The prize is YS.

The Rangers will get a home game now since they're the road team. Then YS will likely be available.

Look for the Rangers to be host at YS in 2013 or 2014.

I thought if the Rangers ever got a Winter Classic game, it would also involve a Canadian team, with more in favor for the Canadiens.

it is a college football event. the yankee bowl or something which isnt even a new years day bowl so its essentially a meaningless bowl.

Yea, I agree. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy football, too, but the facination i don't get.

To me hockey and soccer are better sports. Baseball, too.

I've also come to grips with the fact I'll never get to a Giants game, ever. Too expensive, and impossible to get tickets.

I feel like he's been pretty composed on camera for interviews... I'd be more inclined to believe you'd see antics from the Biron/Boyle types. Anisimov has the potential to be hilarious based on some of the comments the beat writers have communicated that have come from him.

Another reason I was really hoping for a NYC hosted Winter Classic, is that I was dying to go and tailgate before the game. As Ranger fans we don't get to experience the tailgating. Would not consider tailgating in Philly and drinking at the game and then making that commute home.

You lost me there. Maybe if soccer didn't have so many drama queens and baseball didn't have 255 games in a season that I wouldn't disagree with you.

Believe it when I see it. We were supposed to play them at Yankee Stadium in 2010, and the Islanders at Citi Field in 2009. Also, Philly, like Pittsburgh was in one two years ago. They don't deserve another one.

I'll be there if true, though.
