Maybe on the PP but not 5 on, they play the same style and both are RH shots.

Montreal makes sense I guess. Language won't be a barrier for most Swiss people at all.

Can't wait till Geoff Molson gets himself establised as Habs President and brings in hockey management to put this team back into contention....assuming Molson is serious about winning a Stanley Cup!

Diaz played a great World Championship, scored 3 goals, was very good in his own zone. The last two games he played with Luca Sbisa and they had a great chemistry. He's a good skater, has a good slapshot and a good wristshot, can hit and play a nice first pass. The only thing is that he's relatively small, we'll see if it works out.

I'm just glad to see us bringing in new young talent. The org's gotten thinned out a bit over the last couple of years. Emelin coming over (I hope) is a huge asset. Given our recent history with developing swiss D, this is at the least a promising move.

At worst he's going to be another Klubertanz and help the Dogs (assuming he isn't the type that bails). I like these types of signings.

I would have said worst case is a MA Bergeron after a half to full year of adjustment.

Does anyone know whether Diaz will be waiver eligible next season?

One smart bet at a time, whether big or small.

Diaz' contract with #Habs is believed to be worth $810'000 + bonuses.

Send a message via MSN to JHabs
If he can be anything close to Streit but more physical at his peak, this is a great signing

Would that mean he is NHL bound?? Was Spacek traded and I was not aware of it???
That would be

Seems like a good signing...the Habs have had some luck going this route...PG is going to have a very busy offseason...I am hoping for Emelin and Markov announcements next week!

810k is an NHL salary, not AHL, but I guess it could be a 2 way deal.
Just wondering aloud really.

Yeah replacing a 17 year veteran with a guy who has never stepped foot inside an NHL rink would be a brilliant move.

Don't get me wrong, I like Spacek, and he has given great services to the team, but moving forward I would hope for a youth movement on D, and the lesser cap hit would be friendly as well.

Honestly, I don't see Diaz making the NHL at season start. I'm just wondering on any details of the deal as any respectable Habs obsessed fan.

From Arpon Basu: (Read from the bottom up)

@ArponBasu Oh yeah, by far, it was his break-out season really. He was right on top of the league along with Micki DuPont from Kloten.

@ArponBasu Not really. He's way better in his own end than Weber. Needs to add some muscles over the summer however. He said, he will

@ArponBasu Smooth skater, good vision. Worked the point pretty well last season, but could shoot more. Has been the best swiss D at the WC.

@ArponBasu He's as steady as it gets. Might be a little undersized, but will make up with work ethic. Last off the ice in every practice.

The Gauthier going to Europe to sign Emelin was a cover. This whole time he had Diaz on his mind and I'm not talking Cameron.

This is huge.

Makes you wonder if Weber is on trade block, possibly try to move up to get Zibenijad.
