It is quite interesting how long ago he was being discussed as a possible Shark. Kind of interesting to see the historical perspectives on the teams and players as well.

This is my post from September 2008 after the Canucks picked him up and the fat jokes were rampant.

Always had faith in the guy.

Also interesting to see how the massive majority of the Sharks fans on this board didn't want him on their team.

Told ya.

Seriously though, he was a much better fit when Wilson actually picked him up than he was a few years ago. I think that time in Russia will end up being a great thing for Welly. Definitely want him back next year.

To be fair, this was before his stint with Vancouver where he showed something in the POs.

I wonder how much it would take to resign wellwood I hope at the most 1.2mill I think if the cap goes up to 61mill or so the sharks should be able to sign Wellwood Ian white and Setoguchi. Seto will probably be about 3.1 Ian white around 3.2mill a year.

Vancouver fans pretty much felt the same last year. IMO, the only reason he wasn't re-signed in Vancouver was because Mike Gillis and Alain Vigneault wanted a bigger and more physical 3rd line. Last year he was a good player for us. His scoring was streaky, but he played solid defense and won a lot of face offs.
