Both Higgy and Kesler took a lot of bumps and bruises over the last 13 games as well. It's also been a little over 15 games since Edler returned from his injury... Let's hope that's enough for him to get back to form.

I read in another topic that someone saw him around without a cast or crutches. It's no update but it could be a good sign. Take it for what it's worth.
Short of a quick trip to Lourdes, Malhotra will not be back this season.

its good to see manny on the ice again, even if he doesn't play in this playoff. for awhile there i was worried he might lose the eye, so its good to see that he can keep his vision, and down the line might be able to continue playing the game that he loves.
I think with Manny, nothing is certain yet. He's able to skate, so he'll be in shape. If by round 4 he's cleared to play without any real danger, it wouldn't surprise me to the slightest. It's a wait and see kind of thing, where nobody is holding their breath and there are no expectations. I like that, the fans and players shouldnt expect him back, if his recovery goes well ahead of schedule (unlikely, but possible) he'll be ready.
Im so happy for manny that he signed that 2.5million contract before this happened. Nothing worse than becoming a FA with a career threatening injury.

I still do this day wonder why Gillis didn't grab him then, I guess he was still sold on Wellwood and Johnson. Anyways, the following year we grabbed him for his current 2.5mil NTC contract.

IIRC he wasn't on a tryout but seeing as he makes his offseason home in Vancouver, was just at 8 rinks w/ the Canucks working out with them. Same with Willie Mitchell this past offseason.

My point remains, I'm surprised we didn't sign him then considering he was at Canucks training camp and we saw what he was capable of, especially for a price tag like that. I doubt it's that Malhotra would have prefered to play for the Sharks, considering he signed here the following offseason.

No, Malhotra wasn't a training camp invite. He never signed any kind of contract with the Canucks. He was merely skating with members of the team prior to training camp.
Yup, in hindsight the Canucks should have nabbed him. But he never should have gotten to the fall as a UFA regardless. Seems like lately there are a number of players who fall into this position every fall.

Have you seen his eye? He still can barely see from it. As has been reported, there's no way he passes the NHL vision test (and that's a requirement to return).
