All about markets and ratings. I don't know why people keep *****ing every year when the teams are announced, get used to it.

I think it should be in buffalo every year. Just my opinion..

They should play it on Lake Erie too.

LAME that the Flyers are in it again. At least you can understand why they would have the Pens twice before so many other teams get a chance even if you don't like it but the FLYERS? Who the hell wants to see them again?

Exactly.

It's going to be Pittsburgh, Philly, Chicago, Detroit, NY Rangers every season because those are the teams that are going to generate the biggest audiences, thus allowing NBC to maximize the money they can make in advertising.

Sadly we will never see the Kings in one of these, and it's not even totally about the weather. Let's be honest if the Kings were playing Vancouver tomorrow in the WCF the #1 sports story in LA would still be the Lakers coaching search. It's hard to draw much buzz nationally when hardly anyone locally cares outside of the diehard fanbase.

I'd love to see Minnesota get a game, that would be packed.

Citizens Bank will be a great venue but Philly is a crap shoot weather wise. At least we can pretty sure it won't be TOO cold there.

I like that aspect of it but the Flyers were just in one and you know the Rangers will be hosting one sooner than later. The Yankee Stadium Bowl or whatever it's called has put that off a bit. I'm surprised that with a potential NFL lockout, the NHL didn't seize this change to get the new Meadowlands as the venue.

Personally I would have liked to see Target Field or Comerica Park (that's where the Tigers play, right?), get the Midwest a chance to host it again. But that can be next year, I'm looking forward to catching the Eagles on New Year's Day and this game on the second next year.

I understand you need the big market North East teams in these games, but that doesn't change the fact that NYR/PHI is a boring match up. No big name marketable stars on those teams.

At some point you've got to get a team from a different region in there. I would have liked to see Tampa in the mix. They're an up and coming team with an established star (St. Louis), and one of the biggest young stars in the game (Stamkos). A lot of casual fans watch this game, so it could be an opportunity for the NHL to showcase some of it's other stars besides Sid and Ovi.

I was expecting it to be the Pittsburgh Penguins vs the Pittsburgh Penguins.
