I can't help but wonder how this happened. 28 years old, in pro athlete shape not too long ago - what could have happened? Thats so sad to hear about.

I hope this wasn't a suicide.

That's the first thing I think of when I hear "found dead in apartment".

Generally people don't die from concussions directly. They die suffering from Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy. The list of people dying/taking their own life as related to CTE is growing rapidly.

They are still doing extensive research to understand the true nature of contact sports related brain trauma. No one knows all the answers. I realize it is uncommon, but that doesn't make it impossible.

However, not to turn this in to a debate before we even know how it happened.

I'm one of the only people who had no problem with his contract. I'm literally about to cry.

Yea, I know. But CTE more causes bad decisions/suicides. Like the Chris Henry incident and things like that.

CTE causing death on its own is rare, CTE causing death after just a couple months after a concussion? Ive never heard of this happening without some other major factor in play.

Any of the reasons he could've died are horrible. Concussion was the first thing that I thought. Out of left field, but also a viable thought when a young athlete just dies, but I hope he wasn't ****ing with PEDs or anything like that.

I'd be hugely surprised if it turns out to be directly related to his concussion (my best guess would be heart problems for some reason or another) but no matter what the cause, it's pretty messed up and sad.

From all accounts he was a great person and good guy to be around and losing those people is a sad thing
