He definitely seemed pretty genuine in the Garden of Dreams events shown during pre-games.

He was so determined to return to New York and get back to being the old Boogaard after a very trying year. This is just nauseating

such a shame. from everything i read about him, he seemed to have a good head on his shoulders, was a good teammate and seemed to be active in the community. if this is related to his head trauma this is really going to force the nhl to reevaluate how it treats fights and increase the regulations about players after concussions. my thoughts go out to his family and friends.

This is so so so sad. I know he was up and down here, but I loved watching him throw down. Rest in peace, Boogey man

Agreed. I wasn't clear. CTE does not cause death directly. I don't want to speculate.

I'm guessing this has to do with medication he was taking? Ive never heard of someone die from a concussion or post-concussion symptoms...

Sad day today... RIP Boogieman, you're light was cut short, but it was impactful! Best wishes to his friends and family, and to his fans.

I feel priveledged for having been able to watch him in the NHL for his few short years... even though I was not always in favor of his role in the league...

Honestly, what is up with this organization? Two players passing away within 3-4 years of each other? Just unheard of.

Yeah, I remember seeing him on an MSG pregame segment with Alex Frolov at Build-a-Bear workshop. Seemed like a genuine nice guy.

RIP Boogie on Friday the 13th

Leave it to the Rangers to leapfrog that milestone.

This is so upsetting, I thought Boogaard was the best enforcer we've had in years. He had an impact every single shift, and seemed like an incredible person off the ice.
