Why do people call it "prom"? They say, "I'm going to Prom".

But you dont hear people say, "I'm going to wedding" or "We have Christening on Sunday"

The first time I heard it said that way on on American Pie when the girl said "..going to Prom", and I was thinking where the **** the word "the" went.

Hey guys, just wanted to drop in here for a second. I'm a big horse racing fan, as some many know, and sometimes I catch a race where a horse is name after someone or a player in hockey, and then drop in to inform said player's fans. It's happening with some more frequency now, I've seen horses named Ovechkin, Toccet, Gretsky (the latter two spelled wrong on purpose), and Kovalchuk among some others that are escaping me.

Anyways, last week here in Philly (Parx Casino) was a horse named Sean Avery, who won a nice allowance race this past Sunday.(http://ntra.equibase.com/eqbSummaryR...STYLE=NTRA#RN8) He was hurt and took like a year and a half off before a race in April, but looks like a nice horse, so maybe you'll be hearing about him locally.

Barnaby released

http://www.buffalonews.com/city/poli...icle423231.ece

I guess my first thread was deleted?

Former Buffalo Sabres player Matthew Barnaby pleaded not guilty today in Amherst Town Court to five charges, including one felony, following a Friday evening domestic incident involving his estranged wife and another adult.

Barnaby faces charges of felony criminal mischief, criminal contempt, criminal trespass, harassment and aggravated harassment. The most serious charge, felony criminal mischief, carries a possible prison term of up to four years in jail, if he were convicted.

The playstation network is back online.

They are doing a phased process of bringing back the features.

questioning the English language is like spitting in the wind. like how is it possible "ghoti" could ever be pronounced as "fish?"

That's French, not English.

It doesn't really have a real purpose. It's basically just a linguistics joke. Kind of like this.

Prom is so much fun but depressing at the same time. Ahh the memories.

For our afterparty we went out to this kids house in the hamptons. No parents and half our school. It was about as American Pie esque as you could get. Wild times.

Eh, I was kinda disappointed. It was decent, but where was the Old English? I was looking forward to this movie because of Brannagh. I thought he'd really be able to make it feel Shakesperian, but it barely had his mark at all, it seemed.

Captain America looks awful, IMO. That guy is all wrong for the part. He was fine as Human Torch, although the FF movies were horrendous.

I agree that I don't like him playing Captain America, but I have high hopes because Marvel has been fantastic at making good adaptions recently. I thought Iron Man was going to be corny but RDJ is a great Stark and the movies themselves were awesome. My biggest disappointment is that Ed Norton isn't gonna play Bruce Banner in the Avengers.

I thought the first Iron Man was the best film that Marvel has made, but the second was all right at best. It was a major step down, IMO. I too am sad that Norton isn't Hulk, especially because Mark Ruffalo irks me. But, hey, I actually liked the first Hulk film with Eric Bana most of all, so what do I know?

As a whole, though, Captain America just seems like it will be lacking in something. My buddy commented during the trailer that it looked like Inglorious ******** with a super hero, and I thought that was poignant.

Still think both FF movies were awful, hated almost everything about the X-Men movies (don't have much hope for the one that's coming up, either), Spiderman 3 was terrible, and even the first two were decent but far from great. Daredevil had it's moments but was mostly terrible. Punisher was crap.

In the grand scheme of things, I guess Thor is actually one of the best movies Marvel has made, but I still thought it was a tad disappointing.

Yeah Marvel used to make horrible movies. The second Spiderman was great, the first was pretty good but the third was horrendous. The Fantastic Fours were done horribly, they ruined Doom and Galactus, and every other one shot movie was subpar. I think they turned a corner for the MUCH better with Iron Man and the Norton Hulk, I also realy liked the second Iron Man even though most people I know feel the same way about it you do. They haven't made a comic movie as good as The Dark Knight but as a whole I think Marvel has done better than DC. I'm gonna go see Thor next weekend so ill see if that changes my opinion but from what I've seen it looks pretty good. Especially if they're going more for "civil war" Thor who was done a lot less old English-y, imo.

Seems to me like you may be holding these movies to the wrong standards. I consider myself a pretty serious movie buff, but I pretty much give most action movies a pass in terms of serious criticism. As long as they're entertaining, with cool action sequences, I consider them to be "good." I mean it's not like people should be going into Thor expecting There Will be Blood.

Now with that being said, the FF movies were terrible, the 3rd Spiderman did suck, and I probably could have taken a nap during Punisher. When action movies fail to entertain, thy're the worst of the worst.

Who is making the current Marvel movies? Disney bought the brand last year.

Daredevil and the Punisher were the absolute worst and completely unwatchable.
My three year old son is a zombie for Spiderman and IM
My favorite are the two Hulks, Wolverine

HOW DARE YOU FORGET BLADE! That movie is what really piqued Hollywood's interest in Marvel.
