Sure, but Columbus fans aren't going to go for it. And I'm about as far from a Filatov fan as you'll find.

Who's the center to replace Brassard in the lineup?

I'm okayish with the value, but we can't afford to lose Brassard without getting a center back.

Thanks, Howson, for cleaning up MacLean's toxic waste. Welcome, Kekalainen; let's get good things built!

Buffalo and Jackets don't make good trading partners, both lack depth through the middle.

Agreed. But it's amazing how many trade proposals we see on these boards that try to poach one of CBJ's centers.

that's because most proposals don't take into account the other teams needs. To be fair to the OP the value is pretty close but he hasn't taken into account that Jackets can't deal a top 6 centre without getting one back.

I don't think the league allows a sign and trade, and Connolly's extremely questionable health issues would preclude anyone from offering anything of value for him. He'd be the guy traded at the deadline for conditional draft picks and nothing else.

Sign-and-trade deals are allowed...but they make no sense in the NHL, because there's no reason the player in question can't just sign directly with the other team. They happen in the NBA all the time because of weird salary cap rules that allow the player to get a larger contract if they re-sign with their current team, but in the NHL there's simply no reason for it.

No one wants Connolly. Not even his parents.

Like others have said, Columbus would want a center going back. A more realistic deal would be Stafford and Butler for Brassard and a 4th or something.
