Taffe had 2 goals and one assist, not one goal and one assist.
The first two goals werent Lenny's fault. The first was a 2v1 where the cross ice pass was tape to tape and a perfect shot to cap it off.The second was a semi-breakaway where he had MOST of the angle, but not enough to make the save. The third kinda-wasnt-but-kinda-was his fault. The shot came in high and hit his shoulder, he got all caught up in the traffic in front and lost sight of it, it trickled in.
Taffe's second goal was a beauty. He was entering the blueline, the Goalie had 99.9% of the angle cut off.He ripped a quick snapper that hit about one inch inside the far post.I was like "just dump .....heyooo!"
Westrum was very impressive as well. He played with 100% every shift.I believe he had 2 goals as well.
The Ferraros played with alot of heart and effort as well. Diving for loose pucks, diving to hold position in the O end and strong forechecking.
Damn, I made it sound like the game was over in my original post. But anyway, nice game for Taffe, and it's also nice to see Freddie and Lukes get on the board. Hopefully the goalies can pick up the pace...
You gotta be impressed with the way they fought back. Early in the game, it was looking like a second loss and a really bad start to the season. Maybe now they are finding some chemistry and learning to play with each other. There are a lot of new bodies on this team and one would expect that it should take some time to mesh together. Looks like Taffe is establishing himself as the leader. Looks like it will be a very exciting season.
I agree with HokEGoalie completely. Couldn't blame Lenny for the 3 they got on him early, not with the defense standing around. The Falcons also had a goal disallowed because of a high stick. I couldn't tell since I was at the other end of the ice. Albany tried to sit on the lead, as the 19-1 shot differential in the 3rd will attest. And all the promos paid off except the biggie!
