Colorado - Phoenix

Not to add to the wave of Avalanche proposals, but:

Taylor Pyatt (1.00)

Ryan Stoa (RFA)
Ryan Wilson (RFA)

The Avalanche add left wing depth and some much needed size up front. The Coyotes add a fairly large and young two-way defenseman as Rozsival and Aucoin enter the final season of their contracts. 6'3" Ryan Stoa (size queen) can serve as an inexpensive reclamation project or (at worst) a top line AHL forward.

Thoughts?

I'd rather keep Wilson. We don't currently have many dmen with size. Plus, I don't think we've seen all Wilson has to offer yet.

Only if Phoenix adds Bissonnette.

I'd happily give you Pyatt for Wilson. Pyatt is a good player, and extremely likable but not great on th PK and not consistently effective on the pp. Our special team are in desperate need of work. Without the budget to add top end players, we cant use any roster spots on strictly 5on5 types. Even if they are pretty darn good at even strength and are great character players like Pyatt.

Does Wilson help? Probably not, but he does assist in all the ways you mentioned in th op.

From a Phoenix POV, I'd easily do that deal. Guess I just don't understand why the Avs would.

Many won't, as it doesn't particularly help the Avs long term.

But Pyatt is a solid player, and the Avalanche are in need of two kinds of forwards right now: big guys and guys who don't go on the IR every time they break a finger nail.

Acquiring Pyatt may be viewed as a small time move, but it may be one that would go a long way in adding some depth and stability to the Avalanche's top nine forward group.

We have Winnik already, why do we need Pyatt? Especially at the expense of our only open ice hitter.

I agree Shadow, Pyatt would be a great addition.

Phoenix says yes.
I like Pyatt but the Coyotes need a shake up.

You mean concussions and pulmonary embolism?

Think Pyatt could be had for just Wilson. His value is already close to Pyatt's.

Colorado used 19 forwards, 17 defensemen, and three goalies this year, marking the fourth year in a row they were among the league's most injured teams.

Done listening to reasons why player X got hurt.
