Thrashers-Rangers

To ATL: Wojtek Wolski
To NYR: Ben Maxwell

Rangers get to dump Wolski's salary and get a good prospect.

Thrashers get a second like center.

I like Wolski, Thrashers could use his size and skill but I dont think Rick Dudley would do the deal on the advice from Craig Ramsay.

Thrashers had Bergfors who was a similar player and floater like Wolski and eventually coach Ramsay lost patience with his inconsistency and benched him often.

I can see Wolski going down the same track given he has already worn out his welcome in 3 NHL teams.

Sure.

He'd be moved immediately into Ramsay's doghouse after the deal was announced, though.

Wolski's played center, but he's certainly not a second line center.

He's more suited as a winger.

Not Atlanta's type of player -- too soft -- they just dumped Berlund for nothing.

Good gamble for the Thrashers to take and based on Rangers avaiable cap space this might be a good move for them as well.

not necessarily..Wolski isnt the complimentary piece they need, theyre already soft up front...i'd rather see Machecek get a shot to fill that 6/7 forward spot if a more dynamic forward isnt acquired.

and i liked what i saw from Maxwell, skates really well and he really impressed me in the defensive end/effort department..could make a solid bottom 6er down the line.

I'd do this deal. Ben Maxwell's a nice prospect but isn't going to make the team with our center depth chart, and keeping him in the A won't do much. Wolski, when motivated, is pretty good, and if he ends up in the doghouse, he'd just get moved or waved. But Radek Dvorak's here to keep his head on straight.

Solid deal for both teams.

Atlanta gets a player with a lot of talent to take a chance on, and takes on the cap hit, and the Rangers get the cap space they want and get an ok prospect in return. Not bad for either team.

I'd wait to see if the Rangers buy out Wolski's contract 1st...
