If the value is horrible for both team, is it a way to say the trade is somehow even? Its better than having the value horrible on one side, and awesome on the other side.
You know on some Cannuck board they suggest Schneider (25yo) alone for that 4th overall pick. I think my offer would suit more the need of NJ, as they would get a younger, more proven goalie who wont be playing behind Brodeur as i suggest.

And It would not be the first time that a future Hall of famer is traded.
Its reasonable to think he would accept to come to his Home province.
And it would be a salary relief for them to resign parise.
And they was a rumor about price for Brodeur 2 years ago

Ramo dominated the KHL this year, he is probably at Brobovsky level right now. He have NHL experience and he is still young (25yo) with Upside

No, it means that neither team would do it, but for different reasons. The Devils have no desire to trade a lifetime Devil, the best player in franchise history. We'd rather keep him until he retires, because his legacy means a lot to us. We also don't want to trade the fourth overall pick unless it's part of a package for a #1 defenceman.

The Habs have no reason to trade Price, a young goalie, for an old goalie who is about to retire.

As for your later points: no, it isn't the first time a Hall of Famer has been traded, but Brodeur is unlike most great players. He spent his entire career on the Devils, and wants to retire as a Devil. He has had plenty of success here, so it isn't like a Bourque situation either.

Marty has said in interviews before that he has no desire to play for the Habs. He likes playing in Montreal, but he does not want to play for Montreal.

The Devils have plenty of space to sign Parise without ditching the most important player in franchise history.

That rumour wasn't true then, and it makes even less sense now.

IMO, the Dev's will try to trade up (and draft Larsson), not down.

why would the habs overpay for a top pick ?We have enough young player on the roster...Price,Subban,Eller, Pacciorrety.

that said , I can see them moving a few spot like from 17th to 11th overall if they are really high on a player.

You can just have our 4th overall pick for free. We were planning on forfeiting it anyway.
