one year ago today, Gagne scored the Game winning goal against Boston. Today, Gagne scores the empty net goal to seal the deal for game 1 against Boston.

Yea, that comeback will stick with me forever as well. No matter what boston did to philly this year, it doesn't equal that comeback.

doesn't it get old being a flyer fan and wallowing in the day's past? kate smith, bobby clarke, the 70s, lindros... last year's comeback. meh.

as kobe bryant said: "this season was a waste" and the same goes for every other season since their last cup.

I'd like to respond, but I'm not going to let you derail a thread commemorating my greatest sports memory ever. So suck it.

- Dwayne Johnson as Pronger
- Ed Helms as Leighton
- Steve Buscemi as Carcillo
- Leonardo DiCaprio as Giroux

And playing the entire Boston Bruins team, the pie from American Pie.

You know, I had some discrepancies right until the end. But that's gold.

I still remember the WEIRDEST feeling ever, being down 0-3 in game 7 and not feeling remotely nervous. I actually paused it in the second period to leave real quick and came back with only anxiousness to see what kind of rally it was going to be.

Contrast that to big games in other years--Eagles vs TB in the NFC title game, Phils-Yankees game 5 World Series--where my team had a lead and I still had this sinking feeling (warranted in one case, I guess not in the other).

It was surreal, I am still not fully wrapped around that playoff run last year and I went to several of the games even. Too wild, had the Flyers pulled it off in the Finals it would have been a run every North American fan would hear about for the rest of his life.

I know what you mean. When they were down 3-0, I didn't say "well, it's done." I said, "well, that makes things inconvenient." Once JVR scored, I felt they were on their way.

After game 7 was over in that series, it was the happiest feeling I'd ever had as a Flyers fan. I was so excited, I drove an hour down to Philly just to hang out with some of my college hockey buddies (who were obviously Flyers fans, of course).

I've never experienced a feeling of the Flyers accomplishing something historic like that...and I don't know that I will. I wasn't alive for the Cup wins, so for me, that was the pinnacle of Flyers achievement.

And no, Boston sweeping us this year doesn't erase that. At all.

I fully agree. Most electrifying atmosphere ever at the Wachovia Center that night.

I was thinking the same thing - another spring, another spring spent looking back at some past hollow victory.

It gets very old.

I agree that every season without a Cup is a waste and a failure. That being said, last year's comeback was a fun moment. I don't want that to be my favorite Flyers memory, but for someone born in '87, it is.

But yea, while I can get behind tradition and so on, this franchise has not been able to win when it matters, and that's all that really counts.
