The only one that didn't graduate out of the 4 is Kreider. I'd bet Zuc makes the team pretty easily and McDonagh practically doesn't even have to play in exhibition at this point the way he played this season. McDonagh's a Ranger.

Have McDonagh and MZA graduated? I'm not sure.

I think HF's standard is 65 games played. McDonagh and Zuccarello should still be considered for the rankings.

Ok MZA is debatable. To me McDonagh is already top 4 and is pretty much automatic to make the team barring the worst preseason in the history of the universe, creation, time, and the threads of life itself [that's pretty bad]. McD has graduated imo, no doubt about it.

Oh i thought we were arguing about by HF standards. I agree with you they're "technically" graduated, but I think they may be prospects still for the sake of the ranking.

Oh HF standards? Never mind then. By HF standards you need 10 years service, 2 Cups, and a Selke to graduate.

Some of you are acting like it's the first time we've been ranked in the Top 10 before.

After years of crappy drafting, things are starting to look good.

Rangers came in at #7.

EDIT: Note: Only two teams above the Rangers in the ranking also made the playoffs (LA and Nashville).

aint that dandy! That Gomez deal seems to have worked out just fine. Great signing, lol

kinda reads like Kundratek was part of the deal as a draft pick but I don't think thats right. It does seem he may jump up the depth charts pretty quickly as he may have been the best Dman in CT.

Gotta figure McD and Zuke can graduate this year

btw is this Lindberg kid not a top 20 prospect for us? He was for the Yotes.

Also Werek shows on their list.

I'd assume he just hasn't been thrown onto our list yet.

The rankings and system recaps were written and submitted for publication before the trade went down.

It will be updated eventually. That's why we only have a Top 19. Just dropped Werek.

ah thanks guys. I did notice they put Werek in the Yotes top 20 though. Interested to see where this kid falls.

Regardless we can't really complain about drafting since they almost always have made the playoffs in the past 10 yrs( mind you late seeds)

Sather seems to be learning with age.........in most cases

Not sure we're that high either, but one line from the 1-10 article that sticks out to me as to why we fell where we did. In the blurb about the Panthers at #2:

"It is hard to find any real weaknesses. There is a lack of elite scoring talent. Many of the top players like Bjugstad are still several years away. "

The HF staff must not consider a lack of elite scoring talent to be a real weakness, or if they do then it isn't as important as organizational depth. Not sure if I agree or not, but that's gotta be it.

Honestly i didn't think we would be this high either, but reading through some of the other top teams it's not outlandish to think we could have slotted anywhere in that top 10.

Aside from Hamonic (love how the Islanders are only 1 spot ahead of us. So beautiful), no defensive prospect in any of the top 10 teams is playing at a higher or better level then McDonagh. Players like Forbort, Gudbranson, Blum and Cole could get there someday, but some of them haven't played in the pros at all.

Kreider just had a good WHC, something none of these prospects have accomplished, and has tremendous upside, as does Thomas, who also has insane numbers to back it up. For every Lokitionov, Beck, Filatov and Holland the Rangers have Grachev. Our forward and defensive depth is amongst the best, but like HF said, the Rangers simply lack good goaltending.

Based on his ranking (6.5B), he fits in somewhere between Hagelin and Bourque. He's top-10.

The Rangers have more NHL caliber talent in their system then most teams.

That's why we are a top 10, regardless of the lack of an elite scorer.

The thing is, it's hard to find an elite scorer when your constantly picking from the middle of the first round. We got lucky to grab Cherepanov where we did.

But when you stockpile guys who can contribute at the Pro level, you find yourself being ranked high.

I'm glad, because I've been arguing the Rangers have done a good job of drafting and finding young talent post-lockout. This proves it.

The thing about not being in position to draft the elite forward, and having to get them via free agency or trade is, the money is all the same. Those guys get paid weather you draft them or not. Drafting a Crosby doesn't stop him from making league maximum.

I feel this is the year to get ourselves a high-end forward. Trade up for Zibanejad.

He'll never play for the Rangers. He's too busy being President of Iran.

do u think they factor in that we as an organization have been getting a lot of our youth into the big club since the lockout and thus think our prospects have a slightly better chance of panning out?
