Let's hope that it translates to results this time

No mention of Hickey (not surprised) and Martinez not considered a graduate. Weird.

I must say I was disappointed in your quasi-optimism! I expected a much more cynical comment.

But I must agree...

Good to know that our right wing "weakness" is having the top scorer in the OHL in Tyler Toffoli and in the WHL in Linden Vey . Kozun and Cliche are no slouches either.

If it makes you feel any better, with a few exceptions, the ratings for each player don't seem all that great.

Quantity over quality?

I don't know... It's relative to other team's farm systems, right? In the THN prospect issue, we had 5 of the top 55 prospects, which would imply quality in addition to quantity.

At the end of the day, it doesn't matter if we've got the top prospects or if we're #5 or #10. Its all about how they develop and ultimately fit into our team, which will determine our SC fate....

Although I must say, being recognized near the top sure feels better than having a consensus poor farm system.

Surprised they haven't given Bernier the 11A rating he rightfully deserves!

Wonder how the farm will look next year with Bernier and Schenn not being a part of it.

Nice to be #1, it shows we have an excellent scouting system and aren't rushing players in who aren't ready. But what I really want is for the Kings to be #1 in June.

Many periodicals have praised the Kings' young roster and great depth. One thing is for sure - there is really no excuse for this team not to make serious runs at a championship in the near future. If they fail, it's on coaching and management. They have the tools they need, now it's put-up or shut-up time.

I found some of what they wrote about us to be a little off but they did have us at #1 so I figured that they made up for what they wrote by realizing that the overall depth of our talent exceeded every other team in the league which is true.

I agree that Kozun Vey being left off the list was weird.

It may if the Kings are patient and make the right moves along the way. Unless that is you are expecting to have the #1 prospect pool result in a Stanley Cup next season.

I just want the organization to get into the position of re-loading instead of rebuilding again. I think that the foundation for that kind of organization has been built.

I am with TG, the more kicks at the can we get the better. I don't want to win the cup just once, I want to see the Kings win it multiple times over a 10-12 year span.

What's impressive about this, is that the Kings are an established playoff team, AND have arguably the best prospect pool in the league. It shows overall organizational strength.

The Kings and the Predators are the only two teams in the top 10 that have made the playoffs each of the last two years.

Sure ... I think we ALL would LIKE to see that ... but for some like PSP, myself and the handful of others here that have been Kings Fans for 30+ to 40+ years ... we want it AT LEAST ONCE while we can, we're not getting any younger .

And to that end, wouldn't you at least rather like to be able to say your team won it at least ONCE, rather than a 10-12 year span of close but no cigar, say like Lombardi's other team up North, the Sharks ? oh wait, I guess they're not OUT of it JUST YET this year, are they ?

But in general I agree with this ...

hey wait puck, ima 37yr fan and i want what i want (73). more to the point is that what i want is for us to be a great team that can be considered a contender each year and to win the cup *at least* once during that time.

So to me it isn't either or but we all want one in the same and that is to win the cup at least once but to have the ability to do it several times from here out for a long time.

We will too,

Well, I can tell you this. The kind of approach that gives you one excellent chance involves much more risk than the one that provides multiple opportunities. It also leads to the kind of bust we all witnessed in the post-Gretzky years.

Multiple kicks at the can would sure be nice, but you have to have a FIRST kick first - and that's been a looooong time coming

The biggest problem I have with articles like this is that they favor the players recently drafted over prospects that have been around for a few years - only natural, until you go back and read what was written about the other guys before.

Hickey has gone from a "can't miss #2 or #3 prospect" to #8 on the chart. Reading the things written about him 2 or 3 years ago, he was bordering on elite. The organizational ranking was based on that as well as other players (Teubert) who aren't here anymore. Now, apparently, he sucked anyway, so who cares - but that's what the old organizational rating was based on.

Now it's Schenn, Voynov, etc. instead of Hickey, Teubert, whoever. It seems like the rating remains about the same, but only the faces change. What makes the new analysis any more credible than the old one was?
