Deepest FLA Team Since '96?

Can the argument be made? Whether you agree with the signings or not, is this Florida team the deepest squad since the finalist team? is there a deeper team, top to bottom, in the southeast div.? not trying to toot my horn, but just observing facts (albeit facts measured only on paper)

It might but what happened in 96 was everybody's dream. This year could have alot more depth then that team but the fact that the 96 team went to the Cup it brings this team down. The only way this team will ever be mentioned in the same breath depth wise or skill wise is if they go to the Finals.

I'd use the term "most experienced," not deepest. Depth usually indicates that, if someone goes down with injury, your organization has enough talented players to fill any gap.

In that respect we're no deeper than in '96, or than we've been for 5 years.

Still...I'd say our playoff chances are better with this team than any since '00.

Damn.. that 96 team.. Still cant believe how they dropped Mario and Legion of doom back then like nothing. Wasn Mario coming off an 160+ point season too. Those were the day.. Does anyone know is there an DVD out of that season or anything?

Not JUST Mario...Mario, Jagr, and Francis. Much more impressive. Also the Pens' defense was better.

Thing is, neither team had great goaltending. Barrasso and Hextall? C'mon. Who'd the Bruins have that year, anyway? Casey? They were all heavy hitting in the skating dept., but the Panthers didn't meet a good goalie until the finals. When they met the best.

At least game 4 was a fight...a 1-0 in 6 periods fight, but a fight.
