Agreed. To be honest, I think he has a pretty solid chance of making the jump. Certain players have "it" and Thomas is one of them.

Dawes skates like a geriatric and has zero ability to play in traffic. Those factors severely limited his ability to be productive at this level. Thomas has tremendous agility, a good top gear and is willing to play anywhere on the ice.

The size is certainly a factor, but he's not small and gangly. He's small and stocky just like his Dad. You watch a guy like Tyler Ennis in Buffalo, and that shows you what an under sized guy can do in the "new" NHL if he has the right tool set. Thomas has it.

I have to say that Thomas' pure goal scoring ability is much better than Callahans, but I don't think he has the same "motor". Really different players, to be honest

All signs point "Go" with Christian Thomas.

Let him fight with Zuccarello in camp for the RW spot not occupied by Gaborik, Callahan, and Prust. If its clear that he is not ready for the NHL, send him right down, but somehow I think he is going to make an impact.

My reaction to this was going to be the Andy Samberg "**** in My Pants" picture, but my work computer has blocked google images.

very nice. not reality, but very nice.

hagelin and thomas both rooks on 3rd line is unlikely.

3 rooks in your top 9 forwards usually wont work.

kreider may be the least prepared of the 3.

should be an interesting camp.

could be alot of guys on the outside looking in

It is worth noting that Cally had 52 goals (84 pts) in his last season in the OHL. Sometimes that tremendous scoring ability doesn't translate successfully to the NHL. I hope that doesn't happen in Thomas's case.

Cally scored his goals in juniors the same way he scores his goals in the NHL. Hustle and driving the net. Most of his goals weren't beautiful. This year he showed that he has the ability to score goals and translate his style of scoring to the NHL. However, Thomas scores his goals in a completely different way. Thomas scores his goals like a sniper. His one-timer is disgusting. I'd say Stamkos-esque even.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, this team desperately needs someone with good 1-timer skills. Thomas seems to have this (as you said a Stamkos-esque style). Hopefully it translates over to the NHL.

I'm very happy right now and I hope he comes to camp ready to play. No worries if he's sent back to juniors though.

2 rookies on the third line isn't so far fetched, Devils had Josefson and Tedenby on their third line

Yeah, this. Plus Callahan was older than Thomas when he really broke out at the junior level. Before that he had good, but not really great numbers (for the CHL anyways).

They're just different players with different strengths is what I'm saying and I don't know why someone essentially compared them. Thomas will serve a different role than Callahan in all likelyhood. The size comparison is even off because while Callahan isn't big, he's still decently bigger than Thomas

Josefson and Tedenby played only 28 and 58 games respectively -- they were did not compose the Devils third line for the majority of the season.

I would have to think that Thomas will be given a shot at making the team, but that he is beaten out by the likes of MZA, Hagelin and/or Kreider. All 3 of those players have better physical skills, right now, than Thomas.

MZA has seen the NHL. He has played a full season in the pros in NA. Yes, he is going to, physically, be in a better position than Thomas.

No offense to Zuccarello, but Thomas is more what we need, and we can't be carrying several smurfs.

Kreider. Richards. Gaborik
Dubinsky. Anisimov. Callahan
Thomas. Stepan. Grachev
Fedotenko. Boyle. Prust
Avery

Staal. Girardi
McDonagh. Sauer
Valentenko. McIlrath
Eminger

Lundqvist
Biron

Very nice!

With Fedotenko likely coming back and Thomas still so young, that is a line I could see after next season.

The Rangers are slowly building some nice depth. The only thing they lack now are some no brainer 1st line prospects.

yeah 15+ minutes night and pp time would be great...

although just to clarify, if you are looking at that as '4th line' minutes. boyle wasn't a 4th line player for us last year. with injuries, many nights boyle was essentially our #2 center...on a healthy 4 line team, i'm thinking 4th line mnutes is closer to 7-8/night on most nights.

Yea that's not happening this year. We aren't going into the season carrying 5 rookies on the team. While that is a nice idea in theory, in practicality Torts and Glen are going to want to keep/add some veteran presence.
