Crawford was good for them but I really think they should have tried to go after a better goalie.

Nice, love Crawford and am VERY happy it's a 3 year deal. Anything below 2.5 is fine for that term.

Under two would be great for them, but I think it will be closer to Howard's deal.

If Seabrook gets almost 6, crawford should get almost 4 lol. probably deserves around 2-2.5 per year for 3 years

Anything north of $2 - $2.5 million is an overpayment for a guy with 1 good season.

I dont like the term (Prefer 2 years not 3 as he only has 1 NHL year under his belt)

Depends on the cap hit how I will feel about this

But in all reality you have to go by that mindset at times...remember Pascal Leclaire?

Get the feeling that the cap hit will be higher than $2m, but it sure would be nice for them if it wasn't.

A touch higher/longer than I expected given that he was an RFA and this was his first real NHL season, but I was definitely impressed by Crawford this year, I think he'll be a very serviceable starter for the Hawks, I think this deal could easily turn out fine for them, even if there is some risk attached.

A bit higher than I thought but not too much.

A good signing that might end up being a bargain.

Wings got a better deal with Howard, but I wouldn't exactly call this crippling. If Crawford keeps up roughly the same level of play he's shown so far, it'll be a decent deal for both parties. Still, I think Chicago could have pointed to Howard's contract, with Howard being a Calder finalist and better numbers that year, and got Crawford for a little less.

You wouldn't call it crippling b/c it is no where near crippling. It might be an overpayment by .5 mil at the most.

kinda weird for a young player to take the money upfront like that.. maybe that was Chicago's idea in case it doesnt work out and they want to dump him.

Weird salary structure. 3.25 to 2.25 to 2.5? Why is year 2 cheaper than year 3? Not that it's a significant amount.
