Do you guys think they will revert back to being the Winnipeg Jets, stay the Thrashers, or get a new name?
I think they should revert, but it depends on the legalities. If they can't revert, they will almost definitely take on a new name. Thrashers make no sense for them, it is the state bird of another countries' territory.

I've never met anyone who's actually been there that even remotely likes Winnipeg. Someone has already updated Winnipeg's wikipedia to include the "Winnipeg Thrashers".
There actually is a team called the Winnipeg Thrashers already, and they use the same logo as the Atlanta Thrashers.
It's a Midget AAA team, and they made big headlines here this year for winning the Telus Cup, which is the Stanley Cup of midget hockey in Canada.
I personally can't see the Winnipeg Thrashers in the NHL. There doesn't seem to be much fan support for that idea as well. I like the Jets myself, but there is likely some legalities to deal with there.

... It would be colossally stupid to name them by anything other than the Winnipeg Jets. Having said that, keep in mind that this is the NHL we're talking about here.

The Jets moved to Phoenix, which to me means that they still own the rights to the name. Since the NHL currently owns Phoenix, I could see them selling the rights to the name for a few mill to whoever is buying the team. It makes sense really. The NHL gets some money to pay for the Yotes and Winnipeg gets the Jets back and doesn't have to stick with the Thrashers or some other team name.
From what I've heard on sports talk radio with interviews on team 1040 and cknw in Vancouver they will be called the Manitoba Moose the new owners want to distance themselves from the jets name and history

That seems like a terrible idea =/ They should capitalize on the already established and successful brand.
Isn't Winnipeg's capacity currently at the high 15k range...if so that would be BEHIND Nashville even if they sold every ticket....
That said attendance and % capacity are both stats that leave loopholes (I say similar to +/-)...I mean Montreal's barn is huge, if they were at 95% is that worse then Edm at 100%? Even though there could be 4k more in MTL.
I also love when a ranking in attendance is used....even if every team sold out, somebody would have to be ranked 28th/29th/30th, is the NHL gonna move the bottom 5 teams every year or something....as long as a team is above 90% capacity thats all you can ask for imo.
Seattle, Atlanta and Houston are now the biggest metropolitan areas in the United States with out a team.
The reason I suggest Las Vegas is because it's one of the few large markets without any major sport team (NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA). I think getting the foot in the door first is vital for the NHL to successful take over a market in many places, outside of a few exceptions.
The Winnipeg Freeze with "Arnold" as their mascot....I hear he is trying to get out of the spotlight right now, what better to "hibernate" then the middle of ***** no where Canada.
I spent two weeks in Winnipeg a few years ago and it really isn't as bad of a place as it gets hassled for being. It depends on what you like to do. I like spending time in Alaska during the winter and nothing makes me happier than an ice cold storm so I actually sort of liked Winnipeg.
Edmonton is allot of the same with the exception that it has more of a community feel in my opinion and there is ore industry there as well.
Replace the old painting of the queen with a painting of Mr Freeze!!!
The old Win arena had a floor to ceiling (almost) tall painting of the queen on it. It would be classic if they could pull something like that off again.
