What I find most ironic is that the Jets moved from Winterpeg which is pretty much a frozen solid area most of the year to Pho where it is a desert equally barren with the exception that it is hot as opposed to cold.

One wasteland for another.

Re: The NBA

Weren't the Utah Jazz originally from New Orleans?
Weren't the LA Lakers from Minnesota?
Weren't the Calgary Flames originally from Atlanta?

**** happens.

The Weezer W with the letters Eh? on top of it.

Colors would be a soft grey and off white.

Buildings would be burnt to the ground and this time not just so people can stay warm.

Just curious.

There's talks in the Avs forum that Atlanta shipping to Winnipeg will, down the road, mean the Avs are out of the NW division, and would likely join the Pacific, and Dallas is out (I understand Stars have always wanted out of the Pacific).
Some Avs fans are nearly paralyzed with terror about joining the Kings, Sharks, Ducks in the same division, and some would welcome it.

How would Kings fans feel about Avs as division rivals?

While the Avs had a rough season, they won't be that way forever.

I think it makes better sense, and would welcome it. We can all unite in our Duck hatred!

What is the travel distance to Colorado as compared to Dallas? Is it much farther?

Denver is 831 miles from LA and 929 miles from San Jose, 586 miles from Phoenix
Dallas is 1,240 miles from LA and 1,452 miles from San Jose, 886 miles from Phoenix

(I included San Jose since they represent the Northernmost city in the division, representing the amount of travel affected; Phoenix because they are the easternmost).

And for those preferring metric conversions, 1 mi= ~1.61 km

I'd like it. We have a pretty decent rivalry with them already.

aka closer to everyone else in the division

If I had to name the Winnipeg team, I'd play on (almost) everyone's fears and go with Winnipeg Ice...

Then yeah, bring them on. Why wasn't Colorado in the Pacific all along, and Dallas in the other division?

Personally, I like Winnipeg Blizzard if they can't take the Jets.

Jets is the obvious choice with the same jerseys and a new 3rd to spice it up. With Tkahcuk being my favorite player of all-time, the Tkachuk Jets jersey is my favorite sweater of all-time as well. Sweet, sweet threads and logo.

The Cleveland Browns moved to Baltimore and became the Ravens. When the NFL awarded Cleveland an expansion team, they simply assumed the previous name and colors. Lots of legal wrangling and hurt feelings regarding that move but Cleveland retained the name and history in the end.

The Jets have no real history to speak of as far as NHL success goes and are actually known more for their inability to move past the 1st round...something that they carried over to Phoenix. The Phoenix franchise is a mess and it's not like they have throwback nights where they sport Jets colors. The only concern for me is that they have honored Hawerchuk by retiring his number in 2007 so they are still looking to their past as the Jets. There isn't much to hold on to though and the people of Phoenix could probably give a **** for the most part about Laurie Boschman or other former Jets.

Since the league owns the name and everything, a Cleveland Browns type move would be a good solution by the NHL. The Jets did not fail because of a lack of fan support; it's only fair that they have their team and identity returned to them.

In much fewer words, yes But it was done to note a sizeable comparison.

Because at the time, there was nobody else who could have been justified going to the Northwest Division. The closest would have been either St. Louis or Chicago, but the distance from Vancouver to those places is about 1,800 miles.
