Stastny wouldn't fetch Subban. Stastny only 20 goals - 57 points with 6.6 million caphit. Those really aren't fabulous numbers

Stastny only 105 goals - 321 Points in 348 games.

Those are fabulous numbers for a defensively responsible 25 year old.

I could see something based around Pleks + for Stastny. They play the same style of game and have comparable cap hits.

You should probably look at Stastny's career stats instead of one season which happened to be the season where his right winger (Stewart) was injured and traded and his left wingers were injured to the point where he was playing with 4th liners and callups.

348 GP
105 G
216 A
321 PTS
0.92 PPG

Irony at it's finest. Tell someone never to be a GM and then suggest a swap of Plekanec for Stastny...

Subban> Stastny when it comes to evaluating it all, Subban scores 14 goals and fits the bill of a future elite number 1 defenseman.

We wouldn't add on top of subban, Id actually expect something back along with stastny for him

I hope he becomes the Habs GM. As an Av fan I'd love it.

And what do you consider Stastny? He's a number 1 center who does it all. PPG player who is one of the best on defense in the league. People seem to undervalue him as he may not get the flashy goals and is on AHL lines half the time.

No I caught the +... You still don't see why that's stupid?

And it worked very well; we're drafting #2 overall. How's the perpetual middle of the pack finish that ends with no trophy and no good draft pick?

That trade impacted where you draft ? I think it is because of the injuries,Stewart trade. And no i don't see why that is stupid. I guess you haven't seen him play enough.

We don't have a starter at the moment. We might not even have a backup. Will be an interesting off-season.

Of course this isn't different from when Anderson was here. He was going to walk as a UFA.

And teams with no proven number 1 goalies win what again ?

See Philadelphia Flyers.

I've seen him plenty... What motivation should we have to downgrade to a lesser version of Stastny. A small time prospect isn't going to persuade us, and it's remarkably counter-productive for the Habs to offer up anything that would entice us. That's why it's stupid. It will make zero sense for at least one side.

Stastny was still playing at a PPG pace for half the season and only started to fall off once the injuries took their toll and basically the entire team's offense was lost. Plekanec was just playing his usual career pace.

A downgrade ? Seriously . You saw that stats they are almost the same. The play the same style of game. And he has a smaller cap hit that him. How is that a downgrade again ?

Other teams can offer Colorado something better than what Montreal can.

And I can promise that if Stastny is moved, it won't be for another center and it won't be for a pick lower than a first round.

Elliott played no worse than Anderson did this year, so it's pretty much a wash.
