Problem with the Bruins is they think they are the best team in the league. Listen to quotes from Thomas and some other guys.
Boston is annoying, but at least the league isn't in love with them like they are the Canucks.

The only Boston teams I absolutely loathe are the Patriots and Celtics. The Bruins aren't my favorite team to see do well, but at least they aren't NYI, NJ, PHI, PIT, MTL or WSH. Keeping the cup in the O6 is a good thing for the NHL, but my team of choice is the Sharks.

Did you know that Tomas Kaberle scratched his balls 47 times on the flight back to Boston? What a monster

Why would Brooks put his credibility on the line and publish it in the Post 4 days after April Fool's if it was a joke?

His credibility was never on the line, he was writing an article about what Sather said to some one else 4 days before he wrote. The article by Brooks wasn't the April Fools joke, he wrote about somebody else's, which is perfectly fine.

The deal was never discussed.

Tim Tom was crying about Guy Boucher in his post-game interview.

Great save, though.

I'll tell you what I don't like the bat flip every time he hits a home run. Look not to get into too much detail in this thread but, he's 31 years old and hit half his career homers last season, steroids much?

Well, the guy completely reinvented his swing. Rebuilt from the ground up. I know his story is incredibly unlikely, but it's not totally inconceivable.

As far as the steroids, it's pretty tough to get away with that in the current MLB atmosphere. I mean he's a magnet for suspicion now. I have a hard time believing anyone (other than Manny, LOL) could be that stupid.

Also, it's not like he's suddenly hitting 500 foot HRs every day. He's just making consistent, solid contact.

You're right though, totally OT. Maybe we should go in the baseball thread.

Anyone remember what Tarasenko's contract situation was supposed to be last year before the draft? Apparently he's staying in the KHL at least another year, maybe more.

I thought he was telling people last year that he would spend one more year in the KHL and then come to the NHL, but maybe I'm wrong?

hes playing for sibir one more season. his father is the coach and hes committed to play there and fulfill his 2 year deal. he did have a buyout from what i understand but chose not to excercise that option.

according to what i read on some russian blogs, he was promised a spot on the blues next season- highly unusual but a reflection of the organizations desire to get him in a blues uni. he was told no peoria and yet he still chose to stay one more season with sibir.

who would want to come here and play in the a when you can play in the second best league in the world. yet he was promised an nhl spot and still stayed his final season.

he will come over for the 12-13 season. and when he does, he will make all of us dislike the mcilrath pick ever more.

or perhaps he threatens to stay in russia unless hes traded to the nyr

I have no problems with Tarasenko staying to fulfill his last contract year. If this were next year it'd be a problem. IMO its a smart move when everything in St Lou is considered here.

Tarasenko definitely indicated to the Blues that he intended to come over next season. He was under contract for another year, but they believed he would buy it out and come to North America. In fact, they even thought he might leave after the KHL season and finish out last year in North America.

From January:

Quote:
Tarasenko has impressed thus far at the World Junior Tournament where he and his Russian teammates prepare for Canada tonight in a highly anticipated gold-medal game.

There is the possibility of seeing Tarasenko play in North America this season as he could sign a PTO (professional tryout) and play in the AHL late this season. There are some factors that come into play as a lot of it comes down to when his KHL season ends.

Sources say that once his season is over Tarasenko will be in position to buyout the remaining year left on his KHL deal before officially signing an NHL contract with the St. Louis Blues.

If Tarasenko is chosen to represent Russia at the World Championships next spring the Blues may not be in position to bring him over and join Peoria for a playoff run. The idea of getting him in a Blues uniform and burning a year of his entry level deal makes little sense for both the Blues and the player.

I was told earlier today that Tarasenko remains fully committed to leaving Russia and playing in North America next season.
http://truehockey.com/articles/Taras...ill-Eyeing-NHL

In March, Strickland still thought Tarasenko was soon to sign with the Blues, but wouldn't be leaving after the end of the KHL season due to his injury.

Quote:
I’m told not to expect highly regarded prospect Vladimir Tarasenko to finish the season in North America. Tarasenko injured his shoulder playing in Russia shortly after the World Junior Championship and there’s little point in risking further injury in the American League where he is eligible to play in the AHL playoffs. Tarasenko is expected to come to St. Louis soon to be evaluated by Blues Doctors. News of him officially signing with the Blues won’t be too far behind.
http://www.truehockey.com/articles/T...-North-America

The fact that he is staying in the KHL should definitely concern Blues fans. If he has a really good year, there's a chance that the KHL offer blows his ELC out of the water. Also, if he's indicated that he was leaving all this time, then backed out at the last minute, the thought of the same thing playing out next year also has to be unsettling.
