Makes sense. I don't think either of them had any kind of future in Montreal.

In the right situation i suppose Dawes could have an NHL career at some point. I don't see it with Boyd.

Dawes I'm not very surprised, but Boyd is surprising. They were good depth players, Gauthier will have to be a little active this summer

I'd rather give their ice time to prospects we already have(potentially) who have a future with our organization like Leblanc and Avtsin and Palushaj. I want guys like them to get as much ice time as possible and only bring in AHL scoring depth at the trade deadline if one of our young guys makes the big club. I'd also rather Weber start the year down there next year if he's going to sit three games for every one he plays.

For sure, I'm all in for giving the younger players the ice time, but I still think there will be a few open spots come September down in Hamilton

There is not much to cheer for in Hamilton . Palush is good and has learnt lots from Dawes and Boyd . Is he better than them . No . Other than that you have White who is a grinder and who could play a fourth line role with Montreal which none of the aforementioned three can . They just don't muck it up enough .

By having Dawes and Boyd on this team it has given Hamiton a chance for these players to play in a playoff position and learn what it takes to have some success .

And yes Dawes and Boyd are headed to the KHL . Apparently approached by a team who wanted them both on the same team and they got offered a contract which they just couldn't refuse $$$$.

Weber is done in the AHL, you don't want to risk losing him on waivers.

Best be letting Wiz walk then or trading his negotiating rights for a 4th or if we can get a bidding war a 3rd.

Yeah don't get me wrong, Derek isn't the best announcer I've ever heard of, but he's excited when he sees stuff happen. He's definitely good enough to be an AHL announcer though, this guy, not so much.

Any source for this KHL rumour? I mean, I can see it happening, but a random team from the KHL approached two guys under contract currently playing in the third round of a playoff series and offered them both a contract?

There is no IIHF Russia NHL contract. Hasn't been one in years...
Both sides have been guilty of taking players in the past (Not specifically saying Montreal at all... We have actually been quite respectful of the KHL for years now. Not that there has been many issues to contend with... with exception to Valentenko.

It's fair game in their eyes.
Frankly, they have a great opportunity, and we should not be upset, or mad... Neither one of the 2 guys were in any of Montreal's long term plans.

Even if the specifics aren't true, both players are likely Europe bound. They're better than the AHL but history has shown them to not be good enough to play their style of game in the NHL. In the lesser confines of a European league they can play the roles they're equipt to play garner the attention they believe they deserve and earn a respectable income doing so.

No Avtsin = loss.

As evidenced by being down 1-0.
