Good ****ing lord, I hate this board at times.

This thread is hilarious. It's every single Nucks fan saying Kesler is worth more to their team than Malkin and every other fan saying theyre crazy. Malkin would easily be the best player on their team.

A canuck fan didn't make this proposal. Canuck fans have no reason to consider moving Kesler and there is zero chance Kesler is traded, This team has great chemistry and they aren't gonna mess with it. Malkin won't be traded, Kesler won't be traded. End of discussion now we can all move along.

If the Rangers were getting a 1st and a 2nd instead of the Pens, the deal isn't half bad...

Works great for the Rangers.... if you're not a rangers fan you're probably scratching your head.

I'm a Canucks fan...I take Malkin and run and its not all that close.

Basically the Canucks are going to be giving up Kesler and Bieksa/Ehrhoff for Malkin though (for cap reasons) do either of their rights to Pittsburgh help this deal go through?

I don't know about that for me. No question, Malkin can be the best offensive force in the game when he's feeling it. But there are so many other questions like: injuries, defensive game and consistency that play a pretty huge factor into this.

If Malkin was healthy though, there's no way I laugh at this proposal from a Pittsburgh POV.

So basically,

Pittsburgh hates it.
Vancouver mostly on the fence.
New York either loves it or hates it.

As a Pens fan, I would rather (much much rather) have Kesler, but this deal is a disaster for 2 of the 3 teams involved.

Only the Nucks make out on this one. Everyone else gets raked over the coals.

So lets sum up this trade: everyone gets boned.

Vancouver:
Hate the trade because they feel it messes up their team composition and puts them in cap hell.

Pittsburgh:
Gives up an injured top 5 player for an often injured sniper, and get back a bunch of high picks, none of which are sure things.

New York:
Finally gets a top line center, but gives up their top line sniper and a boatload of picks for it. Fills one hole at the expense of creating another, while screwing their farm system in the future.

Thumbs way down to this proposal. As a Ranger fan, I feel that we get screwed the most, but every team has a legit reason to not want to do this.

So the Pens give up the most talented and youngest player in the trade, and the Rangers give up the oldest (using the term relatively here) player and least decorated player, yet the Rangers are getting back the 1st and 2nd?

Yea, that makes sense.

The NYR trade a tin man for a guy that helps you win 82 games of the year. Assuming that NYR aren't doing a full rebuild, they take this deal and run.

Are you kidding. Gaborik is an all-star and two first round picks, for Kesler.

He's good and all but certainly not worth that kind of package. People forget Gaborik scored 42 goals last year. He had a down year offensively, as did a lot of snipers, Kovalchuk, Ovechkin, etc. I expect him to bounce back next year.

No way in hell do i make this trade from a rangers standpoint.

Did I compare Kesler to Sakic? No. If you have problems reading, I suggest you ask before you assume. I'm taking that as an example.

Malkin is overrated. Do you watch him play? He's a floater who racks up phantom assists
You see that little question mark at the end of what he said? THAT IS HIM ASKING.

And man, your assessment is so far removed from reality... it reminded me that you have probably only ever seen Malkin play once or twice in your life.

Come on....really Homer? Kesler is terrific but Malkin is a generational player regardless of the knee injury. These type of knee injuries are nothing these days; he will be back in Oct and 100% by end of November.

I think you are misunderstanding what they Canucks fans are actually meaning. Yes Malkin is the better offensive player than Kesler. What we are saying is that losing him even for the upgrade offensively for Malkin hurts our team moreso then helps us. Kesler right now is a 40 Goal 70+ point player while playing most of his time with decent 2nd line players (Yes he does get PP time with the twins which helped his goal total. But Kesler is a beast defensively and took the reigning Conn Smythe winner and held him to 1 goal (which he wasn't on the ice for) in a 7 Game series.

A better looking trade would be the Sedin's for Malkin and a very good winger (ie. Neal). As that is arguable that it can make our team better. But neither team would do it as Pitts fan's would say Sedin's are too old and Van fan's would say Malkin would have to prove the injury didn't affect him too much.

With Gaborik I'm more concerned with games played and his salary. At least Malkin is head and shoulders better to make up for his recent injuries and high salary.
