Good stuff.

I was wondering if it would get done or not, mainly because it was so quiet on that front.

Nice... Curious to see how he does in Hamilton.. He has a lot of time to work on his game, he's a fairly longterm project at this point.

nice.

Sounds like he fits the mold of what the Habs look for based on what I read on hockeys future.

Potential NHL checker, playmaker, plays a two-way game, smart player who sees the ice well etc...

I like the fact that he has decent size though. Still needs to fill in I guess.

Not expecting a superstar but hopefully he can at least contribute in the AHL

Good signing. Remember I was happy we draft this guy, seemed to be a potentiel good two-way center with size. Still a long term project, but nice to see him come here and looking forward to see him play in Hamilton.

Nattinen registered two assists and served 12 penalty minutes in 21 games with Espoo and Hämeenlinna of the SM-Liiga (Finland) in 2010-11. Nattinen, 20, added two assists in four games with Espoo (Junior A SM-Liiga) and Suomi (Finland2).

In three seasons with Espoo and Hämeenlinna in the SM-Liiga, the 6’2’’, 186 lbs centreman totalled 5 assists with 20 penalty minutes in 58 games. Nattinen recorded 55 points (16 goals, 39 assists) in 51 career games in the Junior A SM-Liiga.

Nattinen was part of the Finnish team at the last three World Junior Championships (Ottawa – 2009, Saskatchewan – 2010 and Buffalo – 2011). He registered 10 points (4 goals, 6 assists) in 18 contests, including three goals in six games at the 2011 Championship.

A native of Jämsä, Finland, Nattinen was the Canadiens’ second pick (third round, 65th overall) at the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Sounds like an offensive juggernaut! In all honesty, I love Finnish Players, so much heart!

I recognize the name, but have never seen him play. Can anyone give me a basic idea on what type of player he is?

With centres like him and Eller in the organization, we'll have an intimidating looking team! So rugged!

Smart defensive center. Good on faceoffs. Needs to improve skating.

Yeah I doubt top-6 in the NHL is going to happen for this guy but nothing wrong with good depth players especially at center with a big frame. Wonder what his skating is like. Edit: thanks Overlords.

Why would we sign someone for less than Pouliot...

Anywho woo! Always great when we sign draft picks. Hopefully he exceeds our expectations and makes the NHL, and if he doesn't hopefully he brings Hamilton a Calder Cup!

Thanks "O", is he a similar player to Engqvist?

Don't make me kill you.

I was just curious, as the description overlords provided, is similar to what I remember reading about Engqvist.

Big frame. Can't wait to see what he can do in N.A.
Judging from the review, checking line center would be his potential, correct?

His younger age makes him look like he's having bigger upside, I guess...

I wonder what this means for Engqvist though, seeing as they are exactly alike... Maybe the plan is to make him graduate to the big leagues in Halpern's spot?

Guys he's a 7.0D! He's going to be our second line center in a few years. They must of thought D and B were the same. it's k. VICTORY!

Apparently we've signed everyone from our 09 draft except Walsh and Cichy and Similia. Doubt Cichy is ever signed. Similia is very last pick of the draft Finnish goalie so obviously, he will be a starter in 7 years. Walsh doesn't even have a wikipedia page.

I don't know how "long term" of a project he is. I wouldn't be surprised if he earns a game or two with the Habs well before this 3 year contract is up. Is it considered waiting "long term" for a guy to be NHL ready before his 23rd birthday? I honestly don't know anymore.

Not saying absolutely that he'll get there (will have to prove more ability to score at the highest levels), but if Engqvist moves up to the Habs full-time, that opens a spot for major checking duties in Hamilton. I could see Nattinen excelling in the role almost immediately (I'm sure the coaches could get him up to speed quickly), and eventually he'd impress enough to warrant a look at the NHL level (hopefully a few pounds beefier). Engqvist earned a cup of coffee this year with his 2-way play in Hamilton, and Nattinen has a two year head start developmentally, in a way.
