ya well im french too

anyway am i the only one who see the change about our game since carbo left? I feel we generate alot more offense on 5v5 altough theres a lack of finish. With markov, subban, weber and maybe another offensive dman, this will help dramatically our fowards to create scoring chances at even strenght. I remember Martin saying he was gonna work with the defense to create more offense kinda late in the season. Hopefully this is the first thing he'll work on next year with a fresh young D corp able to join the rush and do some backdoor play even at 5v5.

Yeah, people underestimate the impact of having skilled, mobile d-men that can pinch and keep plays alive as well as jump into the rush/slot at the right time in terms of generating offense. Hvaing an older/slower defense made it hard for them to be agressive as they don't all have the speed to get back. I think that's an area that we could improve next year...also having a big winger with speed that can forecheck on the top 2 lines(Pacioretty + ??) will be a big plus if we can add a Laich, Upshall etc...even Hartnell via trade if Phillie needs cap room.

exactly, i think we need dmans that can abuse the ovechkin's type wingers in the nhl that don't pay enough attention to their dman. And id also like some fast dman that can afford to pinch in and keep the offensive blue line, something that markov was getting really good at in recent years.

I couldn't have said it better myself. We need a mobile defense who can skate/pass/generate offense in order to supplement our smaller forwards. This is one reason why I hope Wisniewski is re-signed.

Having Markov, Subban, Weber and Wisniewski as 4 of your top 6/7 defenseman is promising.

With a healthy Pacioretty, and one more big bodied top 6 forward like you mentioned, this team has the potential to contend.

Having Markov Subban and Wizniewski would be godly. Adding Weber as a backup is perfect.

We definitely have potential when healthy. I think give Jacques a team like this on the back end:

Markov-Subban (Markov will make Subban look like a god)
Wiz-Gorges (responsible guy for Wiz)
Gill-Weber (Could have some issues)
Spacek

We could actually be quite good. Wiz adds toughness, Gill adds size and mentors Weber one season, Spacek is a good fill in if Weber is sucking or somebody gets injured. You could alternate those two to keep Spacek fresh for the post season.

Say you go for Bieksa instead of Wiz:

Markov-Weber
Subban-Bieksa
Gill-Gorges
Spacek

Yes I know it would be putting Weber as the #2, imagine being mentored as an offensive D on a line with Markov? Plus Markov is great at the left point and Weber is great from the right.

There are all sorts of things that could happen but if we sign Markov and one of Ehrhoff/Wiz/Bieksa/Solid D, we'll be ****.

Also Emelin would likely play too, don't know where everyone would fit but bottom line, we have the potential if Gauthier gets the right people.

Also I don't know why but I keep getting this guy feeling we're going to get Laich in a deal similar to Gionta's.

I still can't imagine Spacek in any scenario falling to 7th on the depth charts. Seems more like wishful thinking to me. Personally I don't find him that bad.

I know people don't like his contract, but he's still a NHL caliber defenseman for sure. I can't see Weber taking over his duties, but the D has a chance to be the deepest it's been in a long time. I would be in favor of moving Spacek if possible, but I think if he's here, he plays. I could be wrong.

I agree with the rest of your post.

he'll play thats for sure since he's a vet and Martin likes veterans. But i do think that he won't play much more than 14-15 mins per game...probably paired with weber or emelin depending on how things turn out.
