He's had back problems dating back to junior. He's had a couple of surgeries hoping to correct the problem, I believe.

Seriously? All I said is the guy said "Mez" 3 pages into the thread and it was the first time I saw that so I said "Nice on Mez". That is a good one, I remember most were pissed at that deal but it took 2 pages of posts before his name was mentioned. I wasn't patting myself on the back, I was just saying "good one". Sorry, see page 1 where I list my wrongs, which I am happy to admit too.

Heres a good one:
I live in Ottawa, mostly Sens/Habs/Leaf fans. I rarely pump up my team and HAVE NEVER claimed the team would win the cup. Well, last year I said in January at a meeting "The Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup this year." I couldn't believe I said it and everyone was like, really? I was wrong......by 2 games.

I then said after we fixed the 5-6 D pairing that "The Flyers are going to win the Stanley Cup this year" to the same group to start this year. I was HORRIBLY WRONG!

Back to my 25 year stategy of never making predictions on the Flyers.

Last year I predicted Flyers over Blackhawks in the SC in 6 back in August of the summer before the season. Little off.

I walked into class wearing a Richards jersey in October of this season after a few games and a friend asked me what I thought about the Flyers. I lifted an imaginary Cup over my head and kissed it, and told them to just cancel the season because no one had a chance. Sigh.

I thought "No way does Homer not get a goalie this season."

I thought we'd resign Pyorala hahahaha.

I thought we should have unloaded Briere 2 years ago for whatever we could get for him.

Shew...where to begin...

I thought the Versteeg trade would put this team "over the top" and all but ensure a spot in the finals.

I thought the team's defense would be the best in the league.

I thought, as I'm sure most of you did, that the PP would be great.

Some things I was kind of wrong about was Leighton and JVR. I never said Leighton would be great or a savior, but I said the team would be fine with him in net because of the defense and offense. JVR I said would never be anything special and probably be a 50-60 point guy throughout his career (this isn't wrong yet but if he keeps up his play from the post season it will be...and I sure hope I was way off on that one).

I'm sure there are about 50 more things but I can't think of them right now.

I was absolutely pissed when we traded for Pronger at first. We had traded two firsts, a top six player (albeit a floater) and a very promising young defenseman for a 34 year-old defenseman.

Yeah...Maybe that wasn't my finest moment.

Well, JVR already surpassed how good I thought he would be. I just doubted him after watching Kane develop so quickly.

I thought Richards would be our best player this year. Definately was not the case.

I thought the Pronger trade would work out better. Yes it worked wonders last year. But from this point on his contract is just going to be a problem for this team for what we actually get from him. He can't stay healthly and he's only getting older. One more injury riddled season and he will probably retire with his 35+ contract left for us to deal with.

What I was right about: Giroux
I knew he would be special after watching him play. I ll admit I had no idea who he was when we drafted him. At this point I think he is our best player hands down.

I was just messing, but still lets not make this a right to wrong ratio thread

P.S I was all for Mez at the beginning too.

Maybe I should mention all the times I was wrong about "being the father" on the Maury show.

I said Ryan Potulny would be at least a 2nd/3rd liner on the Flyers by now.

I claimed Kukkonen and Parent were the future of our defense (I'll leave it at that).

While watching Versteeg way back in camp, I thought he was due for a big year...maybe not breakout, but his best season so far. During some of Toronto's games, he was really flying out there, making strong moves, getting good looks. I thought he would post a 60ish point season, MAYBE even a little bit higher.

Boy, was I wrong. I now loathe him.

- I thought Tim Thomas was over after Rask stole his job last year.

- I thought Cam Barker would've won the Norris Trophy by now.

- I thought Patrick Kane would never make it in the NHL.

- I thought drafting Richards was a mistake.

- I thought Stamkos would never reach 70 points.

- I thought Ryan Kesler would be a career 3rd line centre.

- I thought the Cup would be ours this year

I thought trading Recchi for Desjardins, LeClair and Dionne was a stupid, stupid trade.

Thought giving up Forsberg in the Lindros deal was more or less a throw in.

Thought Petr Nedved was going to be THE player from the 1990 draft.

Thought Jim Cummins was going to be the best enforcer for the Flyers ever.

Thought Patrick Sharp would be nothing more than the next Jim Montgomery.

Thought Jim Montgomery would have a long NHL career.

Disapproved of acquiring Mezaros.

Was happy with the goaltending coming into this season.

Wanted Kyle Turris or Voracek over JVR

Let's be fair, here; Bieksa has had a good year and is all the rage right now, but he's spent huge chunks of his career being more of a goat to nucks fans than anything. Not that I wouldn't take him here.

Coburn's still getting better.

Going with something a little more recent, I thought Zherdev was going to be awesome for us this year.

During the 06/07 season I told my friends not to worry because we would for sure win the cup in 2010, we came 2 wins away...
