Gotta hope he puts on 10-15 more pounds of muscle at the least
Having seen him without equipment, he's pretty stocky\muscular as is. I don't think his strength will be an issue. his drawback is mobility, and adding another 15 pounds, even of muscle, could actually hurt more than help.
What we *need* to do is hook him up to one of those medieval stretching machines
Anyway, very exciting times for preds fans, can't wait to see how Ellis does in the big league.
If I know our fans, and I think that i do:
Ellis will be great offensively, do wonders for our PP, but fans will slag him and put him in bad trade proposals because he "gets caught up ice too much"
Ellis's playing weight in the NHL will be higher than in the OHL.
He was literally playing 30-35+ minutes a night in Windsor. Plus practices and working out, it is almost impossible to keep weight on.
That said, he can do it all. He can throw big hits, he can score, passes not many people can do, hell of a shot, smart. Only downside is he is not an elite skater, good but not elite.
Weber and Ellis on the point on a PP is going to scare the hell out of teams and mainly goalies.

Cooper mentioned him today in his chat that he's our # 1 trade chip (duh) for acquiring a scoring forward
I'd say Franson was our top trade chip with Josi being NHL ready and Blum having surpassed him on the depth charts last season. Ellis definitely has a higher value, but I just don't see us trading him right now. Franson is due a new contract after next season. Ellis has three years left on his deal. Cost control is always an issue to take into consideration here...

Ellis's name was mentioned in quite a few trade rumors around the deadline...from at least semi-legitimate\major sources. Someone I once spoke to with a decent bit of credibility(as much as one can have in the Nashville media) said there was more truth to a deal centered around Ellis and Clarke MacArthur than most thought, although he didn't know if there was anything else involved.
At some point, if there's enough smoke...
I do agree that, while I like Franson more than most around here, and think he's much, much better than given credit for, I'd rather he be dealt than Ellis...unless there's a team that's willing to give a legitimate scoring threat that won't budge on wanting Ellis...at which point, it sucks to lose a great prospect, but that's the reason we've stockpiled, supposedly.
