Problem is that while Campbell is an overpaid good top 4 dman ,,, Komisarek is a pylon who makes top 4 money.

That is not that point.
4 million is easy to manage even if he never plays again.
Look at the players making 7 million+ they are the face of their teams or the worst contracts in the league. Some of them not because they player are horrible but because they limit the team in capspace ..

Blackhawk fans should know this as well as anyone. ...
You know that Campbell contract you guys have .. sucks don't it ?

Campbell
Beach
1st 2011

Komisarek
2nd 2011

If Burke can get more than this (which he very well might), Leafs are laughing.

Campbell is of course one of the most overpaid dudes in the league, but he instantly becomes the Leafs best, and perhaps their only proven puck moving D. He is a great guy to help youngsters Blacker and Gardiner along.

The cap is probably going up by the same amount Campbells contract is higher than Komi's.. so, it's something to consider anyway.

If Burke could pull that off then Stan Bowman needs his head examined

Not really as he is a good player and played a key part in the Hawks cup run

I think campbell to Toronto makes sense tbh. Basically a straight up replacement for Kaberle.

Deal should just be Komi for Campbell straight up. The difference in quality of between Komi and Campbell evens out with the difference in cap hit.

yea he is over paid by like 3 million but he is a good player that is over shadowed by Keith, Seabrook.

His vale does stink because of that cap hit but Komisarek stinks so the Leafs have to give up more. Hey they just got an extra 2nd from Boston and its just like the Leafs to deal picks even though they should be building with them, lol

we have 20 picks in the next 2 years. for a team that constantly deals picks according to you that is a lot of picks.

I would say 27 points for an offensive d-man is what's making people think otherwise.

7Mil just makes it worse.

no, because Campbell is a great PMD and he is better than the guy that Burke traded for Colbourne and a pick.

No need to add something of value like a 1st or 2nd or a good prospect. Campbell is so much better than Komi that this evens out the difference of the Cap Hit.

Campbell makes your team better and this is what a GM is looking for

Chicago trades Brian Campbell to Toronto for their 2012 first and 2nd round picks and their 2013 first round pick.

Draft Smaft

Oh boy. That's going to give some of the usual suspects wet dreams. CapGeek just had to kick in the overload servers.

Source says #Leafs GM is in the finalizing stages of a major shake up. Tweaks still being made, likely to happen draft day.

The #Leafs are looking to package PHI 1st (25th), TOR 2nd (39th) for the BlackHawks 1st (18th)

The BlackHawks and #Leafs have been in talks for a while now, both the draft pick exchange and Brian Campbell trade have been discussed

The Brian Campbell Tweet is the one that I find interesting because you have to believe IF this is true and again I am not convinced it is but IF it is Komi would have to go back just for salary cap reasons because nobody will take that contract without sending some salary back.
If the Leafs are trading the 25th pick for the 18th pick, how does that constitute a "major shake-up"? And if Burke is interested in handcuffing himself with a 32-year old Campbell for the next 5 years, then not only must he be desperate to help Chicago out more than his own club but he must want Leaf fans to experience the second coming of Brian McCabe.

I think your hesitation to trust this "rumor" is wise....

I have said it before I don't think it would be handcuffing the team based on the fact that for the first 3 years the difference is 2.6 million not that big for a d man like Campbell after that if he sucks he can be sent to the AHL thus removing his cap hit from the roster.

I don't think it handcuffs us at all
