Bure Is Cheering For The Canucks
Quote:
The Russian Rocket lived it himself 17 years ago and is hoping the current version of the Canucks can accomplish what he and his teammates failed to.
"Definitely I'm going to watch that final and I wish for them to win the Cup," Bure said Friday from Miami.

Nice to know he's a Canucks fan after all the **** that happened between him and the franchise.

Such a mercurial character. Definitely more sympathetic (in some circles, anyway) when the back story of the how and why he left Vancouver is explored in more detail. But he's always been such a...mysterious (I guess that's the best word?) guy. Even now living a somewhat reclusive life in retirement, he almost seems like an ex-hitman or something.
Either way - one of the all time great Canucks, nice to have him on our side.
David Boreanaz (from TV's "Bones") picked the Canucks to win, too.

That's actually a perfect way to describe him.
I think the main reason i'm still a big fan of Bure is back when he was on this team he used to own a boat that was next to my Dad's and a bunch of really really good looking Russian girls would always be around it with someone who I assume was one of Bure's friends. Didn't see Bure that often. But, Russian girls. Good times.

Maybe that'll convince my girlfriend to cheer for the Canucks. Now we just need someone from Grey's Anatomy to cheer them on...
At least she knows I'll be tossing her out a window if she cheers on the Bruins.
And on topic, glad to have Bure on our side despite the issues in the past. Great guy.

I hope he's not a Miami heat fan.

Just be like Quint.
"Canucks good, Bruins bad. You screw that up, I'll throw your ass out the little window on the side."

This has already been mentioned in one of those merged threads.
So will this eventually get moved to the "all purpose" playoff thread like the other playoff related threads were today?
Parabola? Mr. Canucklehead?

I already gave the mod who merged the threads a stern talking to about his/her moderation on these forums. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused and thank you for your patience in these times of overpopulation and bandwagonness on these forums.
That said some of those threads were really stupid.

I mean this in all seriousness...
...hire Bure to mentor Mason Raymond. Now.

It would be great to see him attend one of the games. This is awesome though, nevertheless

It was me.
Trigger happy. Had to remind myself this is the dog days of an elongated break between games. Parabola took me to the quiet room, though.

You do dat, you go to da box y'know, uh... two minutes by yourself and, you feel shame y'know... and den you get free.
The dog days of an elongated break between games throw me off too. I uncharacteristically start picking on moderators.

Good on him to still wish well for us after what happened to him in Vancouver. The term "bruised ego" could be used here if Bure had an ego. He's definitely an odd character, but his loyalty says a lot about him.

Poor guy had to watch his team get swept by the Bruins. No wonder he wants the Canucks to take it.

Nice to hear that Bure's on our side, despite all that's happened in the past. And I agree that we should hire him to mentor Raymond - ASAP!

He's still one of my all-time favourite Canucks. Hopefully one day he'll feel welcome in Vancouver again, and we can celebrate his contributions to the team without being bitter about a 13 year old trade that ended up benefiting the team long-term anyway.

Gillis was Bure's agent, so if anyone could smooth the waters it would be him.

One of the few PR mistakes the Canucks have made over the years is not hanging #10 (or maybe 96

Can't think of too many guys who played for both Vancouver and Boston...Geoff Courtnall is one, pretty sure he'd be rooting for us. Who else?
