Every year Sather invites some unattached vet with his foot half out the door to training camp. Who will be this falls invitee?

yikes I messed up me title...

if a mod would be kind enough to fix...I promise I won't mention that player Ive been asked not to mention until at least draft day

I don't think it will be Jagr. If he really wants to come back, he will get a contract without having to try out.

Exactly. Jagr would laugh at the invitation and say "no, really?'

Is that his Russian agent?

I do see the point in JJ laughing at a try out.... so who else?

Jagr? You mean the guy that left our team because he felt like not being the highest paid player on the roster was disrespectful to him? Yeah, I'm sure he'll come to camp for a tryout this time...

He actually has 1 more year left on his contract @ a $3.85MM cap hit, $3.5MM salary.

List of UFAs arranged according to age.

I could see: John Madden, Jamal Mayers, and Karlis Skrastins being of interest.

Karlis Skrastins?

Is Slats up for another Latvian-candidate?

He is half good on the PP (his stats in the NHL do not show it, but I've seen him man the point a bunch of times for Latvia and he is not afraid to make plays or fire away for sure).

I mean, if we can't find anyone else, him on PTO for someone to MDZ to at least "beat out" wouldn't be a horrible option.

I hope people realize that Fedotenko was 31 coming into camp this season. He is hardly old, just didn't find a place to play during the offseason and had to earn his way onto the team.

I don't see too many ppl being invited to camp that weren't on the team this past season to begin with. The new ppl in camp will be:

Richards (or another FA if he doesn't sign)
Thomas
Grachev
Valentenko
Kundratek
Hagelin
Yogan
Horak
McIlrath
Potential 1st round pick
Lindberg?

All the other ppl that were on the team should be in camp (including Prospal and Fedotenko). Feds might have to earn his way onto the roster, but Prospal will get a guaranteed contract IMO. He'll be better as a reserve and who can come into the line-up and fill in to a couple different spots AND be effective in limited action. Hopefully EC gets waived in this process, since he's not as valuable as a guy like Prospal would be.

If this is true I wouldn't be seriously interested in any of the guys mentioned. I'd rather see young guys continue to be given opportunities.

Although I guess giving that Lidstrom guy a shot to beat out some kids wouldn't be a terrible idea.
