Moose - Devils

Devils give Winnipeg the 4th pick and go on to select one of (Larsson, Couturier or Huberdeau) plus receive promsing defenseman, Alexander Urbom and the Lagenbrunner pick, which will could be a 3rd in 2011 or possibly turn into a 2nd in 2011 or 2012, depending if and when Dallas resigns him.

for:

Winnipeg's 8th pick: which the Devils select (Zibanejad) and receive Bogosian.

Unrealistic? To much or not enough?

this is hard to understand is it 7th+bogo for 4th+prospect+2nd/3rd?

thrashers give up too much unless that prospect is really good

What is this infatuation with Bogosian? I don't think he's the guy the Devils should be targeting.

That said, the value is too good to say no to this deal, which is why it will probably never happen, since the Thrashers won't allow themselves to get hosed so bad.

Yea not really sure why some people are so infatuated in acquiring him. But we could definitely make a player out of him. Thrashers say no though. And I'd probably rather just keep the pick and take a chance at Larsson

That's what I would do as well. The talent level of this draft drops off quickly, so I'd say keep the pick.

Bogosian for 4th pick is doable but you are certainly not getting Atlanta's 7th pick as part of the deal.

Thrashers do not need Urbom. They already have better d prospects ready to step up if Bogosian departs

Curious, who are these better D prospects Atlanta has than Urbom?

Paul Postma will be a very good offensive dman he has a great shot just need to get stronger to fill out his 6-3 frame. He was an AHL all star in his second season. Arturs Kulda is developing well as defensive dman. Last season he was AHL +\- leader and he brings a nasty streak that this team needs more of. Just ask Radek Martinek at Worlds.
The team also has Andrey Zubarev who made his NHL debut and is adjusting well during his first season in North America.

Im not familiar with Zubarev at all but I surely wouldn't call either Postma or Kulda "better" prospects than Urbom.

I have given you reasons why i think Postma and Kulda are very good prospects. What has Urbom done thus far to be better than these two? If you're looking at just stats, Postma has easily got him covered both a junior level and AHL.

Urbom + Langenbrunner Pick isn't worth #7 overall

no need for Urbom and a 3rd/2nd isn't worth the chance at Strome

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt with Postma, but Kulda is definitely not better than Urbom.

In any case, I still wouldn't do this deal, because I don't think Bogosian is the right player to bring in to NJ.

Probably a little more as the move from 4th to 8th is not great and Bogosian is likely worth more then Urbom and a 2/3rd pick.

I wouldn't even consider the deal, without a swap of first round picks.

Bogosian >= 4th overall pick.. he was a 3rd overall in a stronger draft.

7th overall in 2011 > Urbom and a 2nd/3rd.. No matter how you try and argue that the 7th overall is much more valuable.

And being picked 3rd exactly means what if that player never reaches his potential? Not saying he's a bust, but he is behind schedule and that must come into consideration as well.

Agreed, but the OP is still in favor of the Devils, valuewise. However, I don't think either team does this given the players that will be available at 4 and 7 and Bogosian not being the player the Devils target.

Bogosian is dirty in NHL 11 though. He can become a 99 overall within like 2 seasons.
