FYI, I think it's your pick in the Mock Draft!

Well, for one, Winnipeg will be owned by Canada's richest man, who is worth over $20 billion. They're going to throw a lot of money around to try to lure UFAs there. The winter climate is an issue, but we all know money talks.

Winnipeg was a great hockey market. Attendance and fan support was never a real issue for them before, despite the fact that they were either out of the playoffs or eliminated in round one every year. They left because they had a broke owner, and no one locally wanted to buy them. Their **** arena didn't help matters. It was a great hockey market though.

Im extremly happy and excited to see Winnipeg get their hockey team back. Itl be great for hockey as well. They are a very legit hockey place and their fans will boost their revenue. Hopefully the nhl can continue to be smart and move other franchises that are having a difficult time like the Thrashers to other big markets that will help the entire nhl overall

How's a guy packing for that FLA-TB-WINN-CAR road trip in January?
Excellent question. I assume the league has eliminated any back-to-back night "home and home" games between Winnipeg and their Southeast division rivals?

We don't even know what the team will be called yet, hopefully the Jets again with the old jerseys but it could be an entire new name.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MTS_Centre

It opened in November 2004, so it's not even 7 years old. 15k seats. Should be adequate.

There's not even a name for the team yet, let alone jerseys.

They're playing next season in the SE. Realignment won't happen until after next season.

I did not know that, is there a link?

Im pretty surprised about that to be honest since schedules haven't even started being made yet.

"According to TSN Insider Bob McKenzie, the team in Winnipeg will remain in the Southeast Division in the Eastern Conference for one year before the league realigns."

http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=367433

It's been mentioned a few other places as well. The League wants more time to explore potential realignment scenarios, so they'll wait one year.

I think Atlanta has a really good core to build upon, and now that they have an owner that can lure a FA or 2, which IMO is all it takes if you put together a good core of guys, they'll have a good, competitive team. A playoff team.

They wont be able to use the Jets name because that is Pheonix's property correct?

So what happens to the Manitoba Moose? They may not move this season...but I can't imagine Winnipeg can support two pro teams. It's very rare that any city can.

Not really. Cheapest will be 39 a game with the most expensive at 129 which isn't bad at all. For a Canadian team, this is actually pretty cheap.

Phillips arena is so nice. ATL was awesome to see NHL hockey on the cheap. I didn't care the place was empty, it was awesome. Total bummer.

No, the NHL owns the Jets trademark and have said that they will give it to TNSE if they wish to use it. They'd be crazy not to; just ask the fans what they want. Judging by the videos of them chanting Go Jets Go I think it's pretty obvious.

IMO, the NHL should find a way for them to be able to use the Jets as their name. I think it instantly lends credibility to the team and amps up the excitement that much more. If they change to a new name, it just reeks of an expansion-type team.

Yeah, definitely on the secondary market. The demand is going to be insane this year.
