I changed my guy in NHL 11 to Tim Erixon and made him a 2 way d man. Scored 2 goals and had an assist in my first game as him. Get this guy ASAP!!!!

56 + Kundratek, They're looking at the 53 pick as a compensator pick. Teck and a 56 is a good deal for them rather than just a 53.

The thing about Erixon is he's never going to be a star player. He just doesn't have that level of skill or talent. However, what he does have is the tools to be a very, very solid player, especially in his own end, for years to come. He's smart, he's a good decision maker, he's level-headed, and he understands the need to wait out a puck carrier, make the opponent make the first move.

I would love to add him to the roster. Kundratek and a second round pick? I'm down for that. What a blow to Calgary if they can't lock him up.

I said it on the last page, he reminds me of McDonagh and Staal with the way he plays a "heady", consistent defensive game. If the Rangers could get him, I would 110% let him go back to Sweden for another season.

Agreed, although I am really not a fan of Erixon. For Valentenko and a 2nd though I would do the deal in a heartbeat. I see a lot of Luca Sbisa in Erixon, just not as good of a skater. The type of prospects who are overrated before they reach the NHL.

Less than 3 hrs to 5 pm ET deadline, but hearing CGY may not get 09 1st-rounder Tim Erixon signed. If not, he re-enters 2011 draft.
If Calgary lets him re-enter the draft rather than trade his rights, they are absolute buffoons.

EDIT: Followup tweet:

Obviously still time to get a deal done, though. With this entry-level system, rare for a first-rounder to not sign and "re-enter."

It makes me wonder what Erixon is asking for. Maybe way too many bonus clauses?

If Erixon re-enters draft, scouts all over map on where he may be taken. Everything from top 10 to second round. No strong consensus.
Would be very interesting to see where he goes if he does re-enter.

Speculation is that he wants to play another year in the SEL rather than in the AHL.

Maybe, but Calgary could always just sign him and loan him back to his Swedish team.

I can't imagine they would be foolish enough to let this guy go over burning one year of an ELC.

$ not usually factor in entry-level situations. Maybe Erixon wants to play elsewhere? If so, his rights will be traded before deadline.

I still hate the fact that they traded Werek away, but I can't argue with plans that involve the acquisition of more Swedes.

This could be a very nice acquisition. I hope we don't give up Valentenko, though. I'd trade him for Erixon, no doubt, but I'd prefer to keep him.

Gotta give you some credit on this one even if it doesn't go down RB, good call.

I've also got to ask does anyone else always worry that this board has some better ideas than our FO? 'Cause as soon as I saw this thread I thought, "good idea, but Sather would never think of this." I guess I underestimate them a bit.

Someone in the Ranger's brass does read these boards, I talked to him about them.

Great detective work, his Dad played his whole career here and his name has been bandied about in Ranger circles even at the time of his draft.

Not shocked at this at all, just hope we land him and trade off some excess baggage.

Jan Erixon was a Ranger through and through. Anybody "old' enough to watch him play and playing healthy really saw a special example of a super defensive forward. It was actually exciting to watch him shut down top forwards and excel on the pk..

Would love to see his son don the blueshirt .....
