We traded away BOTH our 2011 second round picks.

There is less then zero chance we trade up now unless we deal a pretty highly touted prospect.

One or two of Valentenko, Kundratek, or Pashnin hopefully. And #15 + 5th rounder.

I think Wolski, Valentenko, and the 15th can move us up into the top-ten.

Wolski is a salary dump - no real incentive for taking him on.

15th + Vtank could move us up a few spots, though, IMO, depending on which player is wanted by which team.

I don't think teams picking in the top 10 would be lining up for Wolski and his contract. V-tank himself isn't that great of a prospect, not good enough to warrant a team dropping a few spots.

It looks like we are picking at the 15th spot, unless Sather decides to trade down.

Wolski has one year left on his contract and is still a top-six player. He has value. No player has negative value.

Wolski had 12 goals this past season, and was a healthy scratch on numerous occasions. This is his 3rd team in 2 years. He's certainly not a player teams would want, especially with a $3.8MM cap hit.

If he was a good top 6 player, how come we are so eager to get rid of him?

He's never put up more then 50 points in a season, his numbers have actually regressed a bit since his rookie year, and he contributes little else besides scoring. At his cap hit and the amount of teams he's been through, I bet we can't find a taker and he gets bought out.

He actually had 65 points in 09-10, but that's besides the point. There are more negatives to his game than positives.

anyone else notice this tweet from mckenzie?

"Tim Erixon was dominant physical presence in game versus Team Canada at 2011 World Championship. Knocked a few Canadians around in that game"

http://twitter.com/#!/TSNBobMcKenzie

sounds good to me

Wolski has the talent. And seems like a good guy.

But he doesn't have the drive to maximize his ability.

I'm sure some will agree with the all the tools but no toolbox thing.

So, Erixon is definitely coming over for this upcoming season, yes?

Any chance we get Lindberg to come over now, too?

Nobody ever said Erixon is coming over next year.

He sounded unsure from that post a couple pages back and I think he would come over and see what camp would be like.

I don't think of it like that, when he was playing good he was playing very well, keeping his defensive gaffes to a minimum and being noticeable in the offensive zone.

But he really tapered off at the end of the season. Either way, he's not a consistent top 6 forward.

Both should be at the Rookie camp in a few weeks along with Hagelin, Fasth, and Pashnin.

Lindberg stays in Sweden one more year but they just signed his freaking cousin and Fasth knows those dudes too so that's a little extra incentive.

As I said in the Erixon thread; if McNeil and Schiefele are gone at 15 (not even considering Mika at this point) I'd trade waaaay down, get a 2nd back and go preferably for one of the two Russians in round 1 (Khokhlachev/Namenstenkov) or Grimaldi and try and get Nieto or Shane Prince in round 2.

Erixon might work his ass off this summer and try to make the Rangers out of camp.

He wants to play here so bad.

That's one of his negatives; he doesn't play well most of time. When he's playing well, he's a valuable 2nd line, playmaking winger. When he's not, he's barely NHL caliber, as he doesn't play a bottom-6 game, so when he's not scoring, he's near useless.

If Shiefele or McNeil are not available, I trade down, take Grimaldi and Rask. Continue the Swedish movement!

In his post-trade interview, Feaster stated that Erixon is NHL ready. I won't be surprised at all if he starts the year on the Rangers bottom pair. I'm hoping one of Del Zotto, Erixon, or McDonagh can play the right side. I'm very intrigued by:

Staal - Girardi
Erixon/Del Zotto - Sauer
Del Zotto/Erixon/McDonagh - McDonagh/Erixon/Del Zotto

(With Staal - Girardi getting bigger minutes, and the other two pairs receiving approximately the same time each).

While Sauer and McDonagh were great together, I think we'd be well served with one of them on each pairing to allow Del Zotto and Erixon more security to join the rush. Since Valenteno needs to pass through waivers, use him as the seventh defenseman or bring back Eminger on a low cap hit deal.

Hopefully, Erixon spells the end of the Gilroy experiment.

I'm not a huge fan of putting Dmen on the wrong side, I really think someone is just going to get moved.

Staal-Girardi
McDonagh-McIlrath
Erixon/MDZ-Sauer

Is what we'll see in a year or two.

And thank GOD this is probably the nail in the coffin for Gilroy.

Well, based on highlights, Erixon did play the right side on the PP in the SEL. Not sure if he played it at even strength too, but I'm not as opposed to doing it. While it's a definite disadvantage when trying to keep the puck in the zone, it's also an advantage for getting off shots from the point.

I hoped Gilroy would be back at least as a 7th D.

But hopefully we get value for him and don't lose him for nothing.

Use his rights as a throw-in in a trade.

He's a RFA with a $2.1m qualifier. There's no way anyone would trade for him, because they'd have to be willing to pay him for that much -- he's essentially a de-facto UFA.

lose him for nothing? he cost us nothing...and he's arguably not worth his QO. if we can get a 5th round draft pick for him great...but let's not worry about him being off the team.

Another sign scouts are down on this draft.

A large Blue Jackets contingent is in suburban Toronto for the NHL combine in advance of the entry draft. GM Scott Howson hopes to trade the No. 8 overall pick for an established player, but if he's unable to they have to be prepared. Should be a good-but-not-great player available at No. 8.

Another desperate broke team that is a mess.
