NYR Players

Just out of curiousity, completely hypothetical in every aspect of this post.

With the addition of Erixon today it seems we have quite the logjam of quality defensemen in our system.

Now suppose we sign Brad Richards. We need a top line LW to go on a line with Richards and Gaborik.

Suppose we wanted to package Michael Del Zotto, Artem Anisimov, and our 1st Round Pick this year (15th overall).

What would you send back our way.

Again, purely hypothetical, I am not advocating the Rangers trading anyone.

That would probably land you a top line player. I mean look what Boston gave for Horton. That package could get something similar.

id give up Matt Moulson for that, JT would hate it but it would spice up the rivalry for sure

it would hurt us short term but it would help our depth and if Del Zotto ever finds it again it would be a big win for us

I'd even throw in Kreider if the trade was for a legit top 3 LW

a top 3 LW in my book is Ovechkin, Sedin and Kovy, i doubt even adding kreider gets you that high on the LW list,

Mouson was 6th on the LW goal scorers list, I doubt you could get much Higher than him. Maybe Morrow from Dallas?

Most isles fans wouldnt do that, but I like Artems upside as a two way player and 15 could get us Oleksiak a big body on defense, and as i said before if Del Zotto finds himself we are sitting pretty

I mean a guy who can consistently score 30-40 goals.

And were not doing that type of trade with the isles. It's a moot point.

Not only is Matt Moulson an insult for that package, but NYR-NYI would never trade those kinds of assets between each other.

Agreed that signifigant trades between the two teams will never happen, but that's the only thing I agree with you on. I wouldnt do this if I am the Islanders. You do realize that if Moulson was on your team he would have lead your team in goals, and he has two conseuctive 30 goal seasons. I am sorry but Anisimov isn't anything special, he is a 3rd line center who can score 20 goals a year. Del Zotto regressed big time this season, dont get me wrong, he still has the potential to be a pretty good defensemen and a PP QB, but I wouldn't exactly say he's worth trading Moulson for. Isles pass big time

I dont see how its an insult, Moulson is a proven 30 goal scorer, who you know can handle the media in NY, hes on a very good contract too.

who do you think you could get better?

Id only do it because I think Nino could replace moulson in a year or two

Heatley
Clowe
Hemsky
Iginla(Maybe)
Vanek(Maybe, if he is available)
Lecavalier(Maybe if he is available)
Doan(He will cost less)
Spezza(I know he is a center)
Semin(Maybe)
Booth(Will cost less)
Roy(If he is available)

heatley Yes if you want to add another 7 million cap hit....then no richards
Clowe No too important to SJ
Hemsky Yes, but too injury prone
Iginla, No Way, flames fans would roast you
Vanek Yes if you want to add another 7 million cap hit....then no richards
Lecavalier yes but OMG the cap hit
Doan no way he's their leader
Spezza no Sens fans would roast you
Semin, but will he resign for less than 7M
Booth, yes works hard but not the scorer Moulson is
Roy, No way beffalo needs centers

Moulson got 30 "someone on this team has to score the goals" goals

then Why didnt someone have to score the goals on your team

seems like your team didnt have a 25 goal scorer let alone 30, and we almost had 3.

it would seem that " if somebody would have to score the goals" he would be on your team and not ours. i mean the need was far greater on your goal challenged squad

just sayin.......

Please dont forget that sather is an EXCELLENT trader, so the perceived value on paper will probably be worth more than you think the way Sather gets value from trades

I'm so glad someone would give us an amazing player like Moulson. My God. What a trade for us.

Moulson had 11 more goals than PAP. And PAP is a terrible, terrible player. The only reason the guy scores is because he gets top line ice time. End of story. He wouldn't get that time with the Rangers and would be on the 2nd line at the most. He maybe touches 25 here. Probably less.

Hey Im giving the Rangers players credit, I know theyre solid talented kids. but you need to realize Moulson is too. and theres no guarantee with MDZ, if he pans out yes we win big, but if Moulson scores 40 with richards would you complain ? hell no you wouldnt

Thats only because Streit missed the Whole year him being our offensive catalyst and all

And Jonathan Pap got 18 because he was playing with Moulson and JT, and youre right he is terrible. if they had a real hockey player on their line with the Moulson gets 40

Pap got 18 because nobody covered him, they focused on Moulson and JT, leaving Pap all alone, and if he didnt fall down he could get a shot off......

We aren't moving a package like that for a second line player.

Moulson is Steve Vickers reincarnated, vickers had more points but the game was wide open then, Billy Fairbairn always said Vickers had no Hockey Skills, he just knew how to score....

same with Moulson

I don't care what overinflated opinion you have of him. He'd never bring that from the Rangers. Not ever. Not even if they weren't rivals.
