Gilroy was in the line up because del zotto needed some development time in the AHL and we desperately needed offense where ever we could get it

if he's on the team next season he will come with a considerable pay cut and it will be because the team doesn't have enough faith in del zotto yet (which would be a

my prediction is del zotto and one of our other young dmen up from hartford and gilroy down in the A to start the season

Then what's the point of even retaining him?

im all for letting his ass go

but i'd imagine that the coaching staff would preffer to have him as an injury call up or MDZ replacement if it gets ugly

its clear they want some form of offensive threat from the blueline, especially when the team as a whole is offensively deprived, and for some crazy reason they think Gilroy brings that. Im sure that Del Zotto is their plan A for this season and the future but if hes still not ready then i believe Gilroy is still their plan B, at least for next year

I'd be very surprised if he signed here with the understanding that he's not guaranteed a spot on the roster.

I don't think many teams, if any, would guarantee him a roster spot. He could sign here knowing that Sather (apparently) still finds him valuable enough to re-sign. It might be his only option at this point.

so can we officially say Gilroy is a goner? I mean really bringing Erixon in gives them another option in camp to look at

Does this not also mean no UFA Dmen? Unless of course Sather goes out and moves a DZ for a young Forward.

Staal,Girardi
McDonaugh, Sauer
Erixon, Del Zotto
Valentenko Kundratek
McIlrath

Have a strange feeling that Gilroy will end up on the Devs or the Isles...And probably do well there too!

I really don't think he's going to do well anywhere he goes.

This. I hated every moment of watching him play and there's no way I want to see him on the Rangers next season.

Brooks says the acquisition of Erixon may discourage Gilroy from re-signing:

Quote:
Erixon's acquisition, however, could have an influence on whether Gilroy decides to re-up with the Rangers, who will not qualify him at the required $2.1 million but will offer the Boston University product a multi-year deal for approximately half that number per year. If Gilroy rejects the offer, he will become an unrestricted free agent.

Gilroy should be offered Minimal $ on a 2 way deal, and just to be fair, keep it for only 1 year.

With Erixon, even though I expect people to be dealt, I don't see him as a D at this point barring a freak rash of multiple injuries all at once.

But, unarguably, he'd compete with some of the leadfoots we have out there now at F. Even if he's almost entirely set up, and not a finishing sniper, let's see.

Would rather have him for less $$ and move Christiansen.
If it doesn't work out, part ways, God bless and good luck.

One of my friends knows him personally and he talked with him this morning. He said he doesnt think he will be back and he is looking at Dallas, Islanders, Carolina and Florida. He admitted to him that he didnt like Torts as well.

I don't want him back so this news pleases me. I could see all 4 teams being interested in him.

I thought Torts gave Gilroy more than a fair chance to prove himself. In fact, I thought Gilroy should have been scratched more, and I always had the impression that Torts liked Gilroy. Gilroy should be appreciative that the Rangers didn't trade him or dump in the AHL, other teams would have given up on him by now.

Good, he ****in blows anyway.

Before yesterday I'd take MDZ,vtank, and probably kundratek over gilroy. Now erixon can be added to that list.

Gilroy wasnt a draft pick, all we have invested in his is time. WALK AWAY SATHER.

Gilroy is done after the trade.

Zero room for him at this point. He's been replaced with younger, and better talent.

Wish him luck getting on another team, I don't think he will have a problem with that.
