Thing about the Canucks is they don't need to constantly dive! So what the hell? Why embaress themselves and all of hockey?

Yeah it was. Too bad the Bruins offense was pretty lacking, sure they had a lot of shots, but Vancouver had way better chances.

One guy said "I nibble on my glove all the time its no big deal" and he was SERIOUS. Of course he was a nuck fan so you have to expect him to be lost.

If you didn't think Vancouver fans could be bigger homers than they already were, just go to the Speculation: Burrows' bite: Suspendable Thread on the main boards. It's unbelievable.

It was an awesome game, indeed. Very physical, fast, lots of shots, great goaltending and a crazy, loud crowd - and a bit of goonery can only help. The NHL / NBC got just what they wanted for a game 1.

Hopefully, many Americans bumped into the game on NBC, and they'll come back on Saturday.

I hope this series goes 6 or 7.

I was a bit disappointed that after the game, when NBC ch. 4 was going to their local newscast, that Colleen Williams said she didn't watch the game, and that she just got there in time to see the winning goal. ???WTF?? When does any network broadcaster admit that they weren't watching their own channel?!? And doesn't she do those ads for ch. 4 showing that she's a hockey mom? Apparently it didn't take.

The only negative for me was that Vancouver won, other than that it was a very good game. I even thought the reffing was decent, some ticky-tack calls, but overall I think the majority of the calls were the right ones. Would love for this to go 7 with Boston knocking 'Couver out in BC.

The Bruins have no PP and it cost them this game, frankly.

That's what happens when you decide to coast in the third. This is the stanley ****ing cup final, you need to do whatever it takes to win.

I can't even read the Stanley Cup threads due to all the Canucks fans. Simply put, their hypocrisy is staggering. The same people who flooded our GDT about Doughty and constantly whine about conspiracies and refs are now defending biting, diving and questionable calls. Worst fans in any sport.

Anyway, it would be amazing if the Bruins could somehow steal this series. But to do that, they need to fix their PP. They blew way too many chances last night to put the game away and that came back to bite them in the ass.

Another MAJOR black eye for the NHL. Even Yahoo has the bite up on their website's front page and what does the league do? No penalties. No fines.

Way to go NHL "brain trust". Way to make the league look like it hasn't changed since the 70's. If only it were factually true that it hadn't we would all be better off but for the league to have such a golden opportunity to simply hand out one game to a guy who is already known to be a "biter" and lose some of bad reputation and do nothing about it is just lame.

Ya I have no idea how they COULDN'T tell if he did it on purpose, finger near face, Burrows chomps AND tries to hide it... Ruutu got 2 games for biting didn't he? How does this go beyond further punishment?

They don't want to make the call during the finals, and they don't want to bring negative attention to the game, especially of players biting each other, during the finals. It's naive.

And the love for the Canucks continues to grow. It will be an absolute satisfaction see them fail in game seven.

But this is *exactly* what they ended up doing. I was listening to a non sports radio program and they spoke about it for an hour. I have listened to this show for years and they have never brought up hockey before that I can remember.

They brought up questions like "is this the game that you want to raise your children playing" and how it was easy for everyone to see that Burrow's clearly and deliberately bit his opponent and how bad it is to show developing minds that breaking the rules and injuring other players under certain circumstances can be alright.

This wasn't a smalltime NF radio show either, it is a huge deal in Canada.

By trying to ovoid negative attention they made themselves look foolish and worse, they made themselves look like every other league.

It was a shameful act by both Burrows and the NHL in my opinion.
