I'm more excited for July 1st than any other day in this next month.

My high school prom and graduation fall in this month.

Glad you guys enjoy July 1st so much.

I enjoy it because its my birthday...I dont enjoy it because of the Rangers' rather dubious history on that date.

Dallas Stars are having part of their 2011 training camp in Charlottetown PEI...about 40 minutes from Richards home town . The talk around PEI is that he is being or will be wooed by the Rangers...Kings and Leafs .

This ****er got three threads?

Anyway, my birthday is close to the date. Watch the Rangers finally give me the one present I didn't want after disappointing me for 19 years

...ok 18 years. I did get a really nice present for my 3rd birthday in June of '94...and it wasn't socks.

LOL you would think after what has happened on July 1st of prior years that Ranger fans would be cringing when another one rolls around...

Oh I'm half cringing, half hopeful.

If Sather can convince Richards to come here on a reasonable deal, then great. If it's some 8 year long, $8 mill cap hit monstrosity then good god

The problem as I see it is that the Rangers really need to get at least one more legit star piece, preferably a center, and Richards fits that bill without the Rangers having to give up player assets. Without that piece, I don't think they can legitimately contend soon enough...with that piece, they're pretty close

With the ownership situation in DAL not likely to be settled until later in summer, DAL will not be making contract offer to Brad Richards.

DAL would be interested in trading exclusive neg rights before July 1, but move would require Richards to waive his NMC. No guarantees.

In February,Richards was willing to waive his clause for one team

Nieuwendyk was just negotiating with Sather on deadline day. Other teams weren't involved.

Dallas is out. TB has other salary commitments.

From December

Quote:
I was told this week that the Toronto Maple Leafs are no longer among the top teams on Richards' wish list come July 1. From talking to different people around the league and connecting the dots, I believe his most desirable destinations are Dallas (staying put), the New York Rangers (he won a Cup with coach John Tortorella), Tampa Bay (back to his roots) and the Los Angeles Kings (team on the rise). Never say never in terms of Toronto, because you never know how much money talks come July 1, but I get the sense the Leafs aren't on the radar for Richards and his agent, Pat Morris of Newport Sports.

February

Quote:
The free agent to-be has told an old Tampa source that he has no real interest in playing in Toronto, if he, in fact, becomes a free agent come July. Richards' first choice is to remain in Dallas, assuming the team gets sold and can afford to sign him. His second and third choice, not necessarily in order, would be returning to Tampa (which doesn't seem possible economically) or playing for his old coach, John Tortorella, with the New York Rangers. He has also hinted about having some interest regarding playing in Carolina.

When asked about Toronto, he apparently said nothing but shook his head.

So what do we trade for his rights then? The only other team I fear is LA in this situation

fan diddily tastic. Knowing they are not going to offer him a contract they can't ask for a ton you would think

Given there cap woes and our lack of pics this yr,lol I actually think they make take Christensen, right to Gilroy and a conditional pick just to get something atleast. Don't laugh Dallas has no leverage right now

Bring him in Sather!

At this point, I think there is a pretty damn good chance Slats trades for Brad's rights.

Nashville traded the rights to Hamhuis to Philly for Ryan Parent. Philly traded the Hamhuis rights to Pitt for a 3rd in 2011. Calgary acquired the rights to Bouwmeester for a 3rd and the rights to Jordan Leopold.
