Didn't even know there was one.....Seems an interesting player with great size....that will try to help the Capitals from now on. We lost him for one reason....we didn't have Marcus Johansson amongst our players.....In the end though, it means we're interested in having more centermen.
This guy never score more than 11 goals in SEL... Can i remember you Mikael Johansson? Rickard Wallin? Fabian Brunsntrom? Jonas Gustavsson? Sven Blindenbacher? Robin Figren ? David Ullstrom ? Johan Harju ? Marcus Nilson ? All this guys were "super star" in their country and weren't able to do the same thing in NHL. A lot of hype for nothing, Sjogren will probably start the season in Hershey.

Have you seen him play ? On eliteprospects, they say he's a creative center... do you know what creative centers usually do ? They create plays and get assists... he got 7 goals and 17 assists last season, while playing physical... do you watch the Elitserien ? Oh and by the way, all the players you named, some are still young, some manage to changer their games in the NHL, some won't do anything... but Blindenbacher is Swiss, not Swede...

Yep but played in Sweden. Well i lived 6 years in Skelleftea so i guess i can talk about SEL.... You know Harju or Brunnstrom were very high comin in NHL, just to fall down, very few undrafted players with some hype surounding them an actually make it in NHL.
The only one i saw is Gustavsson and Ulstrom, both playing in AHL.

Good stuff! Glad the Habs are looking for talent, regardless of what we already have.

Was there a lot of hype around Sjogren? I didn't see anything written about him before the signing...

First of all I can't help myself from saying that Harju actually wasn't undrafted, he went late but still got drafted.
Sidenote : I am convinced that Harju would have been a good player in this league, if he had gone to a team where he could have gotten top 6- minutes. He just doesn't suit as a bottom 6-player.
I like the fact that Gauthier is all over the place and very active
That's pretty much what I take from it. Nobody can accuse him of sleeping right now, even if we don't hear everything that he's up to. With the Emelin signing, Diaz, Gill as a mentor, trying to get some other young undrafted talents, I think he's really focusing on getting the team younger right now and trying to get as much young talent in the system as possible in the hopes that a few of them will pan out as hoped. Not a bad way to go and exactly what a team with a lot of money but no top 10 draft picks should be doing.
Not only was he one of their top prospects... he's also a goalie which is something they need big time. I'd love if we can somehow pick him up, please no more wasting draft picks on 6'7"/6'8" goalies like Simila and Missaien.

I don't think it's that much a question of "focusing on getting the team younger", but instead a willingness to leave no stone unturned. Undrafted prospects are still prospects, and once in a while, you'll find a gem. Think Desharnais.
