2 Rangers Proposals

trade 1 Rangers deal Poti to Van for Matt Cooke and Nathan Smith.

trade 2 Lundmark to Bos for Hilbert

reason for deal 1. van needs d and needs to dump a forward cause they got too many. Matt Cooke could be a holdout cause he is looking for a big raise.

reason for deal 2, hilbert wants a trade and wont get a shot with bruins. If he was on a rebuilding team, he would be in NHL right now. Lundmark needs another team, the change will help both players.

So why would we want Cooke? Don't give me that..."Because he has good size and is young" crap. That would be an awful deal for us. Poti had a down year and all of a sudden became another Dave Karpa. Poti is one season removed from his 48 point campaign. And he is only 28 year old. He might not be a superstar on defense and the "Poti poke check" style might get on some nerves. But he is "fine" on defense and his passing skills migh outweigh his negatives. I would want a ton more than those two for Poti.

I'm not a huge fan of Poti, but if is this "new" nhl opens up and he has the right defensive partner (possibly Malik) he could have a pretty big year. The Rangers should hold on to him to at least the dead line and get top dollar for him.

Don't worry, Cooke won't be dealt for Poti. The Canucks don't need a soft, offensive d-man, especially if it cost's the Canucks a solid, gritty two-way 3rd liner in Matt Cooke. Besides, the Canucks can't afford Poti's $2.4 mil salary, they traded Sopel away because of his expected salary.

The Ranger's should take the wait and see attitude with it's player's now, play the game under the new rules, and make any trades at the deadline.

Ortmeyer, you got good spirit in trying to find players and trades for the rangers but 90% of the time its all pipe dreams and not realistic. Its good youre a passionate ranger fan and for that I commend you.

IMO Cooke >>> Poti, Cooke is like another Barnaby who pisses people off, can score, and he throws the body around. But because of Potis passing ability that would be a horrible trade for us? If you asked that trade on the Van board im pretty sure it would be about 99/1 in favor of rejecting that trade. And the only reason Poti got so many points is because he played with Leetch. Look how lovely he did without Leetch by his side last season. Plus you could get a poti type players off waivers if you really wanted to. I dont want the kids following after potis soft, poke check style hockey

Worst reasoning ever. Leetch was gone for 15 games.

You kidding? He probably played his best after Leetch left. I think Poti will have a good year, and be traded at the deadline for something good that can help us in the future.

Poti's defensive play is subpar but he is good offensively dumping him for cook would be stupid.

we should trade for the sedins (j/k)

Imagine a line of Sedin-Nylander-Sedin

It would just be constant cycling.

I think everyone here is under-rating Cooke I personally like the guy and had at one point saying that could be Garth Murray's upside.

Cooke is a hard nosed grinding in your face type of player who can aggrevate and adjatate and on top of it put some pucks in the net.. Imust say Cooke over Poti, because Poti could pass a puck well and put some points up who cares he is and absolute p@$$y, who is horrible defensivly. I would much rather have 2 d-men who play better defensivly and would put up 25- 30 points each (EX Tyutin and Pock) if they had enough time PP and even strength i think it could be possible. What Cooke brings to the table is not easy to come by he is an all around leader and good player Poti posesess not one thing that can be compared to Cooke.

Cooke>>Poti

no question

Poti makes too much money to be dealt at this point. Might as well keep him, hope he dominates next year, and trade him at the deadline for a decent package.

Lundmark for Hilbert? Eh, maybe, it's a change-of-scenery type deal no doubt, but I don't expect either player to make an impact at the NHL level ever.
