Drew Stafford contract/Brandon Dubinsky wants $4.5M per

Drew Stafford. Group II with arbitration rights. 2 years away from group III

Stafford re-signed with Buffalo today

Quote:
Drew Stafford (buf) 4 years / 16 millions total
https://twitter.com/#!/renhockey/sta...98214845628416

Coming off 2 years/$3.8M

$1.5M and $2.3M in salaries

52 points in 62 games this season. 31 goals

196 points in 317 games. 94 goals.

Dubinsky is in the same situation as Stafford. Contractually.

Coming off 2 years/$3.7M

$1.7M and $2M

52 points in 77 games. 24 goals.

179 points in 319 games. 71 goals.

Career highs in goals for both players.

Dubinsky will get a similar contract. Closer to $4M than the low $3M range which has been suggested here. $3.9M per. Travis Zajac money.

I've long thought he'd end up close to $4m. Does Stafford kill penalties? Just a question, because I think that would affect the number Dubinsky gets eventually too. The Stafford deal really only helps the Rangers, because there's no way Dubinsky is getting more than $4m.

I'm very confused.

Wolski is not worth 3.5 being just one season removed from a 23G 42A 65PT season but Dubnisky is worth 4 after putting up 24G 30A 54PT.

How does that work?

I agree. I've also penciled Dubinsky in for $4m per year. Based on this deal, I think we should be able to get him for an extra year at $4m (ie: $4m x 5 years), or take it down a couple hundred thousand if a 4 year deal (ie: $3.8m x 4).

Cap has gone up every year, making GM's more willing to commit money.

Dont know whats so confusing about it. Youve watched them play, youve watched them trend. Its quite clear who the better player is.

This. Plus, what Wolski did two years ago needs to be weighed against what he did (or more importantly, failed to do) this past season.

Or the fact that he's one of the teams top penalty killers, is solid in the faceoff circle and brings it more nights than Wolski does?

He also kills penalties, has much more of a physical game, and is a better two-way player.

So if Dubinsky doesn't improve on this past seasons numbers will he then be overpaid?

I'm shocked too.

And Wolski has a 3.8 cap hit and is making 4 million in actual money this year, not 3.5 to be specific.

Solid in the faceoff circle? Is that why he doesn't take them anymore? Is that why Drury had to come off the bench just to take faceoffs? C'mon!

He actually plays the other side of the puck. Unlike the unmotivated Wolski who couldn't care any less about defense.

Dubinsky finished with a faceoff percentage of over 50 percent this year (52.5 to be exact.) Drury came off the bench to take faceoffs for every other centers sorry ass on the team. Just because Dubi plays the wing now doesn't mean he sucks on draws.

He doesn't take them anymore cuz he's adjusted to being a LW and like NYRFAN218 said, he had a 52.5 face-off percentage. Do you even follow the team at all?

Well he still does, he'll just go back to playing the wing after the draw. He took the 2nd most faceoffs on the team behind Boyle.

All the stats are here...

Isn't it obvious? Anyone who doesn't think Dubinsky is the greatest Ranger of all time has obviously never watched a Ranger game.

The Rangers finished the regular season in a three-way tie for 25th in the league in faceoffs

We are bragging about this why?

Wait - Dubi trails Srafford by meaningful percentages on both a PPG and GPG basis and he's due for virtually the same contract? How does that work?

If I'm the Rangers, I'm taking that comp and targeting either 4 years for $14MM or 5 years for $20MM.

Way to make an ass of yourself. That is clearly not what I'm saying and you know it. You said he sucks at face-offs which is why he doesn't take them anymore. How is saying that he adjusted to LW and had a 52.5 face-off percentage saying he is the best Ranger of all time? all it says is that you clearly don't know jack **** about the players... Just take your BS and leave.
