Exactly. That was its original purpose. And that's how it functions at its best. At its worse, it's a draft of the 'next best', a designation which is confirmed by that pick not getting promoted in future main ATDs.
So, don't worry about making the now-popular pick or 'winning' the MLD. Dig and find and profile some guys who were undeservingly overlooked. Show what makes them valuable in an all-time context. There's always guys who get drafted in the 15th-20th rounds of the MLD who end up more valuable than guys who were drafted in rounds 1-5. That's almost unheard of in the ATD but common in the MLD.

There is a voting process. All the GMs rank all the teams, and then regular season ranking is counted out. Once the regular season is done, there are 1 on 1 play-off matches, where all the GMs vote on who would win.

Okay, well i would be happy to join then, i would have to learn a bit more about the early 1900's players, but besides that i should be good. thanks
Plus, usually a couple of off-the-board picks per team. After all, that's all part of expanding our knowledge of players in hockey history. Dig up some gem and profile him earlier, where deserved. Take a flyer on a guy or two in the later rounds, especially extra skater status. But avoid stinkers!

We did just go through a 4 month+ 1000 pick draft. Perhaps there would be more interest if we pushed back the start of this thing? I donno. Interest in the playoffs seemed the lowest this year since ATD11.
I'm pretty burned out at this point (one of several reasons I needed a co-GM), and I think I'm generally more obsessed with these things than most.
