Explanation: TB and LA are not trading those players. I DARE you to take this to the trades/rumors board. Just tell them you're an Islanders fan if you do

also, horrible

edit: goodness, you DID take it to the Trade board? What made you think it'd go any better here?

That's what I see. A huge player making a good NHL team right out of his draft year--has good wheels--looks solid in his own end. Not the usual for a defenseman to do this and he was looking pretty good in the playoffs--to me anyway. Staal went back to juniors for two years after he was drafted.

Ooops it seems I'm in the wrong thread. This is the how to try to get the first overall pick thread.

Maybe you would enjoy Islander hockey better because thats how they build their teams.

I think that bernmeister has quite an overactive imagination with these proposals. Apparently teams around the league are lining up to trade their best untouchable players.

The first proposal was alright, the second was horrendous.

How bout we scroll down to settings and turn off computer veto trades.

THIS ISNT A VIDEO GAME

GROW UP WITH THESE REDIC PROPOSALS.

WITH ALL YOUR IMAGINATION YOU MANAGED TO MAKE BLOCKBUSTER DEALS THAT RESULT IN THE RANGERS HAVING A LINE WITH DRURY/WEISE ON IT. THIS IS LITERALLY THE WORST THREAD IVE EVER VIEWED AND IM ASHAMED TO HAVE TAKEN THE TIME TO HEAR OUT THAT PROPOSAL.

IDEA: HOW ABOUT MZA AND MDZ FOR OVIE

REASON: MZA IS LIKE ST LOUIS AND MDZ GOT SENT BACK TO THE MINORS BUT SHOWED POTENTIAL OF BEING GOOD. OVIE IS TOO EXPENSIVE.

Every time someone suggests a trade, their proposal is that we trade many good or ok players for great players. Make a similar offer in reverse to these very same folks and they would laugh in your face. Funny that they never see it clearly from both sides.

Not only that. It might be the worst forward lineup I have ever seen in the NHL.

Pretty sure the Rangers iced a line of Lacouture-Ulmer-McCarthy at the end of the 03/04 season

This is just terrible. I'm glad you're not the GM. Why do we need to add more to an already stacked defense? Have you not seen the recent moves? The team needs offense now, not more defenseman.

However, I think there might be more opportunity in attempting to land Victor Hedman (at cost of not much more than MDZ) and Doughty, which would be a massive overpayment, but one I think is long term beneficial. If Doughty is RFA --- as I recall --- would want to negotiate a contract with him first.

We get younger, improve our power play to extent it is a difference maker.
TB and LA get enough in assets to make it worth their while. I assume LA will translate extra cap into other non cap assets (i.e., Kudratek = 2nd round pick, etc., or they keep him and dump deadwood instead).

Here's my thought:

Now that we have Erixon,
1) MDZ, Christian Thomas + MZA
to TB for Victor Hedman

Then, part of the Wolski to LA picture is:
2) Fs Gaborik, Stepan, and Wolski;
Ds Ilkka Heikkinen and Kundratek;
and one netminder not named Lundqvist plus the #15 overall pick
to LA for Doughty

Explanation:
Deal 1. Saves TB $$; possible replacement for St. Louis; , MD who once played with Stamkos, not bad substitute for Hedman. Rangers probably best return for MDZ, upgrade.

Deal 2:
Stepan is a solid block
Gaborik a bonafide sniper, gamble is he returns to form after healed shoulder separation and mild concussion, and still got like 20+ goals in like half a season
Girardi is best shot blocking D in league and a solid defensive G
Wolski of interest to LA in another thread; if a bust buyout for cap space is reasonable
Heikkinen is Finnish import, rushing D might be stopgap option, competes w/short term contract
Kundratek a bonafide 2nd prospect value
another G to develop or trade can’t hurt.
+ a mid first rounder
Again, Rangers upgrade.

Results:
LW C RW
Dubinsky Anisimov Callahan
Grachev Boyle Prust
Hagelin Lindberg Tommy Grant
Fedotenko Drury Wiese
reserves: maybe Gilroy, Jason Wilson, Fasth
possibly dump Christensen, Avery, Prospal (would keep but his knees are going)

D
Staal Doughty
Sauer McDonaugh
Erixon Hedman
reserves: Emminger, V. Tank, Pashnin, Parlett

G:s Lundqvist, Biron

Thoughts...
Please don't hesitate to qualify your opinions with why you think value is good/bad, we are paying too much/little, etc.
Thanks in advance...
So you piss away Thomas, MDZ, 2 2nds, MZA and Horak just to build our 3rd pair? Erixon has upside and will likely reach our 2nd or top pairing and I udnerstand you put Doughty in the way but then that means you don't piss away prospects you would give away one of Sauer or McD and keep CT otherwise it's a waste of potential prospects to fill a spot that is not worth filling.

You put thought into it but looking at it from that angle it's attrocious. As far as the Doughty trade did you trade Girardi too because you left him out of your lineup but didn't include him in the trade. If Girardi and gabs go plus our 15th we keep Stepan. we are desperate for forwards giving away one of our top F prospects plus our best scoring forward is a bad move for a D man. You give away Kreider before Stepan imo anyway. if you give gabs, any D man not named Staal, Wolski and a 1st that's as far as I think we should go maybe a 2nd or something and a mid level prospect. For Doughty but the Hedman trade is terrible.

Some combo of MDZ, CT, MZA or kreider needs to net a top 3 wing otherwise we crap all over our farm system.

I appreciate the time you put into making those proposals, but that end-product offense is just god-awful. Like I don't think we'd score more than 2 goals in a game the entire season.

Can't think another offense in the NHL as horrific as that one, absolutely terrible. Tommy grant? Guy looks like a child molester and can barely hack it in the ahl...

Its one thing to put the idea together, its another to think its a good idea.

That offense is laughably bad.

This is like a bad video game line-up. Than in the video game you can pick up some free agents and make trades for forwards lol. Anyway both are great D man but they are not for sale for the Rangers and not for most teams. Anyway we already are much deeper on D than forwards if anything look at dealing the other way D for forwards.

I agree i like what i saw in Hedman in the playoffs. He showed that hes not only skilled but can play tough. When he really makes it all come together he could very stong D man.
