Cruiser... you got it all wrong. A team offers a player a contract at gun point and if they don't sign, they shoot em in the knees. The player has no say in it whatsoever.
That's what the new CBA is all about. Can't Back Away.

Don't know. Guess you'd have to ask the Rangers' brass about that one. Not all teams use the same tactics. Like the Leafs this year. In past years they used to pistol-whip players repeatedly in the back of the head, but this year, with all the concussion issues, they simply resort to making perspective players read the Leafs board until they sign.
Although this whole "reading" approach is a little more difficult to enforce with Lindros.

If there are bonuses involved, Anaheim is in serious cap trouble. I wonder if we can get Carney from them... Anyhow, I think that Selanne didn't bring much that one of rookies doesn't possess, especially Perez. I'd rather trade for a reasonably fast winger with a nasty disposition.

Ek|und said he could go in Montreal, Chicago, Atlanta, St. Louis, San Jose, Florida, Colorado, well, every where except Anaheim

That make you thought about why his name his censored

Well, I repeat it, i'm not disapointed, but I will admit I would loved to see him in Montreal!

Let's Perezhogin, Pleckanec, Hossa and Higgins makes their proofs.

doesn't mean that he would have sign here for the same amount ...anyway , as some of us already said , there was no room for him , exepted the place of a Perez or a Higgins...

By the end of the season, I have a feeling that we will be pretty happy that Selanne wasn't on the Habs. Perezhogin will be the hands-down better NHLer by then, IMO.

Maybe everyone will shut up about Selanne to Montreal now.

The fact that he's playing in a place he's not only familiar with organization-wise, but being in a location he likes and lives in regardless of where he's playing(summers), I'd say that alone compensates for an extra $500,000.

Not to mention that Selanne has earned over $50M during his NHL career so an extra 500K really doesn't matter to him.
