I can take or leave Mike Rupp, especially if there's any truth to the terms. A 50k increase is peanuts with the cap going up as much as it is this offseason.
Rusted Root, on the other hand, makes me want to drink myself to death ala Leaving Las Vegas.
The grinders are probably the guys who are the most amenable to making deals.
I'm sure Shero's in talks with the other players, but it's not like negotiating with Kennedy has to be a 24/7 marathon stretch. Besides, the more players that sign, and at decent rates, the stronger Shero's bargaining position is.

I really don't think I could sum up my feeling on this thread any better than this.
Pretty ambivalent about Rupp... extremely angry and a little terrified that that song by Rusted Root is now clanging around in my head. Drastic measures might have to be taken if this isn't resolved in short order.
I get what you're saying, but say we lose out on somebody because of a $300,000 difference, and we're maxed out cap-wise?
Then me thinks a $500,000 scrub for the fourth line would have been better than Rupp. Of course, if this scenario comes to pass it's all good. I trust Shero has a plan.

I guess, but if we're going after someone awesome and we're that close, I'd imagine it'd be a "sign now, demote someone to WBS ASAP" scenario.
Again, it's all speculation until we see the terms.
Alternately, there's always, you know, not paying Max "Lightning in a Bottle" Talbot a million per to free up some cap space.
I am sure you are being sincere but I hate this whole "I've got sources...but never mention anything else". Are you Eklund?
Ha! No. I do know Ek, though. I played hockey against him at the All Star Game. Sources are friends within the Pens, good and trustworthy friends who know certain agents personally, and other media I've met along the way that I know are knowledgable.

You're sleeping with them for this information, aren't you. Not judging, just wondering ...

... on muh way ...
... on muh way ...

Just in case you'd succeeded in getting it out of your head already
So you want me to bore a hole in my skull and dump turpentine directly on my brain, then?
I'm conflicted. Due to the fact that it would kill you, i have to say no ... but in the abstract, yes, it would be cool to see someone do that. I wonder if there's anyone i DON'T like that i could convince ...
+Great physical presence on the fore check
+Tough along the boards
+Frequent hard hitter
+Can beat up middle weights
+Is not completely useless on offense
-Has no hands but doesn't stop Bylsma from putting him in front of the net on the the PP
-Takes very stupid penalties at bad times
Meh, I guess I'm ok with this if true. Not the place to start in my opinion (the fourth line), but whatever.
On the contrary- it IS the place to start because, unlike past years, all of our holes are at the bottom. We have two RW spots open, TK to resign, Letestu and Jeffrey to place somewhere in the lineup, and then the entire 4th line to re-sign. In my personal opinion, we have had the best 4th line in the league for the last 3 years. Vancouver this year, and Chicago last year don't count because they were ridiculously deep and playing guys on the 4th line that would never normally be there. Re-signing our 4th line guarantees we continue to have the best in the league, and to me, that's very important.

Not nearly as important as having the best 1st, 2nd and 3rd lines...which is all well within our reach, I might add. Just need to re-sign Kennedy and find another RW.
I don't see how Vancouver and Chicago don't count, either. When you're deep, you're deep. And we have so many guys ready for bottom six duty, it's not even funny.
