Don't worry. Being rude becomes much easier once the Toronto fans begin posting Carter proposals.

But I don't like Carter. Can they take Versteeg back? What do you guys think of him?

Awww, come on Rick. Let's show the newbie that Flyers fans have hearts. They may be buried way deep down inside, and lots of fans believe we're animals. But we're animals with friends.

Lookit that! You're already getting the knack of how things work around here.

Versteeg = bad
Carter = meh to bad to God

If you call out Holmgren for any one of the numerous bonehead things he's done, you're golden.

Also if at any point in time you want to make a joke about former coach John Stevens and the futility of cake baking, that will go a long way.

I'd be lying if I said this didn't get me, and I don't even like dogs.

Can anyone recommend me IEMs (In-Ear Monitors/Headphones) for $80 or less? I guess you could say I'm an audio-ish guy on a budget.

Was looking at Head-Direct RE0 and SoundMagic PL50.

There are some really fantastic in ear monitors, but in my experience you have to spend a lot on them before they start sounding comparable to a decent set of cans. I use Pioneer HDJ1000's and I'm really happy with them.

Any reason in particular you are sold on in ear ones?

I was watching Top Gear last night, and caught something that blew my mind a little. It was in the America special, where the crew has to buy a car for 1000 bucks in Florida and drive it through the deep south. There's a portion of the episode where they are tasked with finding roadkill and eating it. While Hammond and May sit around, Jeremy drives off to find some supplies. When he returns (with a dead cow on his car roof) he is shown driving into view, coming to the rescue of his hungry companions as the sun glints off his car.

I was watching that scene, and I realized it seemed really familiar. I listened to the background music more closely, thought about it...and was amazed when I realized what the show's producers had done. They had basically turned Jeremy driving up into this scene, with the same music:

So, they managed to compare Jeremy Clarkson riding into view with a dead cow to save his co-hosts to TE Lawrence riding into view as he goes to save the Arab Revolt.

Mind=Blown.

Nice job pointing that out Beef. When I first saw that episode I knew there was something about it that seemed familiar that I just couldn't place. I haven't seen Lawrence of Arabia in quite a while, so maybe that's why I couldn't place it.

The subtle things like this that the producers weave into each episode are what make that show brilliant, and shows how far behind the American knock-off version is.

Another important part of that particular episode was just the utter shock of Jeremy, Hammond and May as they drove through what Katrina did, just a year or two removed from the storm. With their reaction, if you somehow weren't aware of the complete destruction that storm wrought, you knew just how bad it was by looking at their faces and how far away one of the most powerful countries in the world was from returning that place to normalcy.

I'm pretty sure they use the Lawrence theme in the Amazon Special as well, when they're in the desert. I'll have to re-watch it...when I first saw that episode, and those scenes, I had some deja vu about it. I guess that would explain it.

The Katrina scenes really were good. That show occasionally has those profound moments.

I might actually have a job, because tomorrow morning isn't actually an interview, but was described as getting things together and explaining more details of the job (I was interviewed there previously for another job). So here's to hoping .
