*********** Hockey Break
Hearing that Ilya Bryzgalov wanted a 4 year, 25M contract from the Coyotes. Will be interesting to see what happens with the Flyers.

Yikes
That's what I am afraid of. If they can't get it done, I hope they trade his rights for a similar package like they did with Hamhuis last year.

I have the distinct feeling that he won't get signed.

That's not that outrageous. Pull that down to $22-$23M and it's a pretty fair deal.

If I was negotiating with PHX, I'd throw some ridiculous demands out there too, see if they bite, he was all but gone anyway...

The 3rd was probably just to eliminate Clarkson from the organization, lol.

At least we freed up a contract on the 50 contract limit.

Homer, get Bryz singed or pull a Hamhuis!

Don't really mind the 3rd round pick to be honest. They've got plenty of time to sign him. If it looks like the negotiations aren't going anywhere they could always flip his rights for whatever they can get. I think we on this board tend to overvalue draft picks just because, well, we never have them...

I don't mind the 3rd. It's the conditional that makes me go "hmm."

This is holy **** indeed.

If the conditional pick is a 1st 2012, I might be pissed.

With third round picks, we tend to:
1. Draft, then trade away a few years later. Player turns into star.
2. Draft goon.
3. Draft a European. Let him go when his rights run out.

The agent is Rich Winter who was Ron Hextall's representative. Hextall fired him during negotiations after Winter had a feud with Jay S.

Bryzgalov wants to be paid as a top player...not just a top goalie. Demands too rich for Yotes.

Real_ESPNLeBrun Pierre LeBrun
Am told by source that Bryzgalov contract demands with Coyotes were off the charts.

Not a strong position to go to the bargaining table with........ "You gave up a prospect and two picks just to be able to call me on the phone, and now you don't wanna give me 7mil/year? ******* you, pay me."

He wanted to be paid as a top player for Phoenix because he was a top player on that team... Its not the case in Philly so he might lower his demands.

RT @darenmillard: How much did bryzgalov love phx? Wanted to be paid like top skaters @ a time the value 4 goalies has dropped. the wpg shot was hollow.

Oops, my bad on the youtube link. Sometimes i forget what site I'm on. Thanks for the ninja-edit GKJ.

6.25/year is too much for any goalie in this market. I bet Holmgren ends up trying to talk him into a much larger contract than that for a crazy term just to get the hit down and because he has to get his man. It doesn't sound like Bryzgalov would necessarily do that though. 4 years would be the perfect length to have him sign one more deal before he was an over 35 contract, so maybe he is looking to cash in twice....

Holmgren: Gonna give it our best shot to sign (Bryz). Asset to get it early. Every intention to get a deal done.

I wouldn't mind losing a few certain players in order to get him signed.
