Wow didn't see the flyers actually upgrading the goalie spot. Question is, if they can get bryz under contract, who is the first heading out? And can we have them?
Murray should be aggressively trying to bend Holmgren over a barrel for some secondary scoring. Leino, Hartnell, Versteeg and Carter could all be on the block and they won't cost a lot.

With the exception of Versteeg, I'd be thrilled to get any of those guys.
Would be nice, but judging by the responses from my inquiry on the trade board, it's going to take more than that. Of course, Holmgren is probably thinking differently.

It's interesting Flyers fans don't see it as a salary dump so they are demanding a top prospect (such as Etem).
Holmgren better make room for Bryz before he's signed (if he does sign) or he has no leverage when he deals away whoever he deals this year. I would have thought Vokoun make more sense, he's a cheaper, shorter term option who is just as good as Bryzgalov is.
That kind of destroys the purpose for the Flyers, though, besides the value being weak for them...

I can understand them, though. His value isn't dictated by him being a salary dump to the Flyers. I would have to believe that enough teams would be interested in bringing a player like Hartnell to their team.

Very different situation - for now at least - given that Gagne used his NTC saying he would only waive for a trade to Tampa. Same thing could happen with Hartnell as he has one of those as well, but as soon as he gives the Flyers just a few options, his value becomes a lot higher.
i think all that means is.. phoenix management = unstable so i will be an ass and ask for ridiculous contract!! haha i donno bryz doesn't seem like the guy whos gonna be demanding 8 mil+ contracts.. he seems to be quite fair and know what hes worth..
i wouldn't be surprised if he signed for around $5m in philly
watch him pull a Hamhuis and **** the Flyers again
I could see that happening, but I would not call it ****ing them - he has no obligation there. It's the obvious risk for the acquiring GM that he won't come to terms. I don't know, Bryz seems to be the type of person that would not mind playing at home for the right price. I don't see him getting more than $6.5m from basically anyone in NA.

“I am pleased the Flyers thought enough of me to make the trade with the Coyotes,” Bryzgalov said in a release through his agent. “Philadelphia is a great city, a great organization and a great team with a rich history. I am looking forward to meeting with Paul Holmgren to discuss the possibility of us working together for many years to come. I would very much like to have the opportunity to play for the Flyers and be a part of the team Paul has assembled and to work with Paul and Mr. Snider to see if we can achieve the ultimate goal.”
Sounds genuinely emphatic, though. Would be surprised to not see them come to terms based on this.

Not a fan of Versteeg, at all. Leino I do like better, especially as I think he could fit well with the twins, but $4m would be too rich for what he has done. Hell, $3m might very well be too much for us, even after unloading Sutton. We'll have to wait and see, but I wouldn't be expecting any $3+ signings unless for possibly Teemu if he is back.
